Today is a hawker food exploration at Beach Road. With 2 of our buddies who loves food and eating, we are here with them at Golden Mile Food Center to explore some of the center's very delicious food. Today's 2 stalls are Pauline Thai food and Chung Cheng Chilli Mee on the 2nd floor of the center.
From Pauline Thai, we ordered 5 dishes in all. They are as follow:
1. Fried tang hoon ($5) - generous portion of fragrantly fried tang hoon with lots of ingredients. Portion is good enough to share among 2 people. It has a slight burnt taste which was great! Rating: 3.8/5
2. Green curry chicken ($7) - huge bowl of thick green curry gravy with lots of brinjal. The brinjal is cooked to the right texture and the gravy didn't taste too coconutty. Other types of cream could have been added. Rating: 4/5
3. Red curry sliced pork ($7) - lots of thinly sliced pork with minced long beans tossed in thick red curry gravy. All the dishes are heavily taste so far and goes well with plain rice. Rating: 4/5
4. Minced pork basil ($7) - a very refreshing appetizer dish to open up one's appetite. The tanginess of the minced pork with onions tasted real good. A good alternative to the usual mango salad. Rating: 4.2/5
5. Fried kangkong ($5) - the vegetable is stir fried with prawn paste and chilli padi. Deliciously stir fried. Rating: 4/5
Pauline Thai Food is recommended to those who love and can take spicy food. All of us were in perspiration by the time we finished.
My Overall food rating: 4/5
Price: 4/5
As a side dish, we tried the chilli mee from Chung Cheng Chilli Mee. It was like prawn noodle but the special homemade chilli sauce tossed made it especially good. The ingredients are prawn, ribs, fish cake and eggs. Yummy and deserves thumbs up!
My Overall food rating: 4.5/5
Price: 4/5
