Our dinner venue for today: Jurong Point at Boon Lay MRT. Jurong Point is well known for food, with 3 main food streets. We have Korean and Japanese at the basement and HK food street on the 3rd level.

We intended to eat Legendary HK, but queue was way too long and we were too hungry to wait. We browsed along and stumbled across Brotherhood (古惑仔)Bak Kut Teh at the behind the HK food street.

Brotherhood bak Kut teh is a subsidiary branch of AOne. Besides bak Kut teh, the restaurant offers other dishes like Claypot porridge and hotplate dishes.

We ordered 3 dishes for today:
1. Hotplate seafood horfun
Paulin's Munchies - Brotherhood Bak Kut Teh by AOne at Jurong Point - Hotplate seafood horfun

2. Ampang yong tau fu
Paulin's Munchies - Brotherhood Bak Kut Teh by AOne at Jurong Point - Ampang yong tau fu

3. Claypot chicken cubes
Paulin's Munchies - Brotherhood Bak Kut Teh by AOne at Jurong Point - Claypot chicken cubes

All 3 dishes were good. Hotplate seafood horfun is good for 2 to share if you are a small eater and the ingredients are generous. Ampang yong tau fu is fried yong tau fu with gravy.

Fried crispily and goes well with the homemade sauce. Lastly the Claypot chicken cubes is fried with garlic cloves and fried chilli. A little spicy but goes well with a bowl of rice.

Ambience of the place was good and staff very friendly. A nice restaurant for family and frenz.

My Overall Ratings:

Price: 3.5/5

Sushi Tei has opened another new outlet at the renovated Tiong Bahru Plaza. Located on the 3rd floor, this restaurant is rather small as compared to the rest of the outlets. We had to share table with others and the tables are closely packed side to side. Not much moving space.

We were there to try their delectable summer treats. We ordered the following:

1. Sanshoku Aburi Roll - this is one roll created by Sushi Tei chef from SG. It is 6 pcs of salmon, yellowtail and raw scallop roll wrapped with rice, omelette and cucumber. Fish was fresh but the roll wasn't as tasty as expected.
Paulin's Munchies - Sushi Tei Summer Treats at Tiong Bahru Plaza - Sanshoku Aburi Roll

2. Demi glaced beef rice - this is another summer dish created by SG chef. It is braised beef slices with onions, potatoes and carrots with rice. Typical japanese glaced rice but beef slices were generous and tender.

3. Teriyaki chicken - nothing fantastic about this dish. In fact, the chicken from ichiban tasted better.

4. Yasai miso soup - our favourite soup everytime. Hot miso soup with lots of vegetables and mushrooms. Very good on a cold weather.

We still preferred their usual menu dishes as compared to their summer ones.

Trying out another Eatigo deal for today. The Bomb Bistro, located at 4th floor of Jcube, is offering 40% off its alacarte menu at 630pm. This western cafe is quite popular with students as they offer good discounts for set meals. Students or NSF men can easily get a decent set meal less than 10 bucks.

The servers are mainly students who put on their greatest smile. We ordered the following items for dinner:

1. Chicken chop
2. Pinky pasta
3. Seasonal vegetables
4. Tomahawk wings

Tomahawk wings is an appetizer. It is basically seasoned winglets deep fried. They tasted a little like KFC.
Paulin's Munchies - The Bomb Bistro at Jcube - Tomahawk wings

The seasonal veges are fried with truffle oil and they tasted real good. For mains, Kevin had chicken chop which comes with 2 sides of your choice. He chose wedges and coleslaw.
Paulin's Munchies - The Bomb Bistro at Jcube - Seasonal vegetables

The chicken chop was panfried with a little crisp on the skin and yet still tender. The homemade brown sauce further enhances the taste. Wedges were good but coleslaw on the average. Pinky pasta is tomato cream base spaghetti with salmon pcs. Very homely taste.

Today is our family dinner day. Mummy is treating us to her favourite tze char stall that she recently stumbled upon at Bt Panjang Community Club. 252 Live Seafood stall is located in a coffee shop within the community club.

There are not many seats and mummy had to reserve in advance together with the food ordered. Our dinner menu is as follow:

1. Salted egg prawn. Salted egg sauce was good but not worth the price for the portion.

2. Steam fish with caipu. Fish was very fresh, no mud smell and tasted very good with the fried caipu.

3. Fried nai bai. Simple homely taste vegetables.

5. Hotplate tofu. Nothing particularly good to mention on this dish.

The recently renovated Food Opera at Ion Orchard is much brighter as compared to last time and more seats are available. Some of the old stalls like Scotts Beef Noodles, Fortune restaurant dim sum remains at their old location.

Just opposite the bak kut teh stall, a new stall known as Great World Noodle House caught our attention. Crispy fresh fried chicken cutlet piled up against the glass.

Looking through the menu, the stall is recommended for their chicken chop noodle and fried rice. I ordered the noodle while Kevin had salted fish fried rice.

My noodle portion was large. Large has more chicken and vegetables. One pc cutlet was cut into slices and placed on top of saucy noodles. The cutlet was tastily fried, very crispy indeed.

Sauce for the noodles was good and was tasty enough to cover the noodle gheey taste. Kevin's fried rice is another strongly recommended dish.

Each rice grain is so springy and fried with generous portion of ingredients. Very good fried rice and comparable to some good tze char stall.

For desserts, we had coro coro from Bread Society. It is actually crispy creme puff topped with almond bits. Not too bad...

There are many more food stalls to explore at the newly renovated Food Opera and we will be back to continue with our food exploration.

Located in Foodclique (by Kimly Food) at Jurong East Central, this tze char stall is popular with the after work weekend crowd. The coffeeshop was packed to the brim by the time we reached there at 7pm. Fortunately we managed to get a table and seated ourselves comfortably to order food.

Looking through the menu, we realised that the food from this tze char stall was priced much higher as compared to others. For simple cai pu omelette, it costs 10 bucks as compared to the usual 6 or 8 bucks. We ordered the following dishes for dinner:

1. Marmite chicken
2. Fried dou miao
3. Signature tofu

First came the marmite chicken. The dish is fried chicken winglet doused with marmite sauce. Very tasty indeed. Every winglet was coated with sauce evenly.

Next was the signature tofu. It is fried egg tofu served cold with homemade rojak sauce.

A very good appetizer to try. Lastly, dou miao was fragrantly fried with garlic.

Would say even though the dishes were expensive, but the food tasted good and above average. Do give this stall a try but remember to come early.

Today's really a wonderful foodie day. We had delicious birthday celebration at London Fat Duck during lunch and now we are at Standing Sushi Bar enjoying their every Wed 50% discount off their speciality rolls.

Standing Sushi Bar is situated at level 2 of Hitachi Towers. It is not a very huge restaurant and the seats are quite tightly spaced.

We ordered 2 of their speciality rolls, Under the sea and All salmon all the time.

Under the sea has fresh scallop on the top and coated with fish roe. All salmon all the time as what the name suggests is all abt salmon. Both rolls are simply awesome and no complaints about them.

For quick bites, they offer happy hr bites at $5 each from 5pm to 845pm. We orderes tori karaage, edamame, yakitori and sesame salad. One word to describe them: SEDAP!

Vivo City basement has been renovated not too long ago with a wider range of food restaurants to choose from. It was for our colleague's birthday celebration that we decided to try London Fat Duck for lunch today. Fortunately that we were there early, we managed to get seats for 6 without waiting.

We ordered most of their recommended dishes as follow:
1. Crispy london duck bun
2. Crispy london black pepper duck bun
3. Crispy pandan salted egg bun
4. Half london roasted duck
5. Bbq pork and roasted meat
4. Chee cheong fun with you tiao
5. Fried shrimp dumplings
6. Dumpling soup
7. Plain noodles

The london roasted duck was good. The fat layer in between the skin and meat was so even. Meat was tender as well.
Paulin's Munchies - London Fat Duck at Vivo City

It was told that the duck goes through special programs before achieving this kind of succulent texture.Bbq pork and roasted meat were excellent. Meat was not too fatty.

Among the buns, we preferred the crispy salted egg bun best. Oozing salted egg puree from frangrant pandan buns. Buttery and sinfully good.
Paulin's Munchies - London Fat Duck at Vivo City

Their noodles are not so gheey in taste as compared to Mak's noodles. Chee cheong fun was good as well.

Overall, London Fat Duck is place for bbq meats and dim sum so do give it a try.

Western food for our monthly anniversary dinner today. This is another Groupon deal that we have bought last month. For $15, you can order $30 worth of food of their ala carte menu. Seven Seas Bistro is a cafe pub located beside the famous Outram Bak Kut Teh. We were the only customers there upon reaching at 7pm.

The chefs were actually engaged in their own snack time while waiting for our order to be processed. We ordered 2 of their recommended dishes: Chicken Schnitzel and Mixed Grill.

The chicken schnitzel is breaded fried chicken topped with cheese and caramalized mushrooms and onions.
Paulin's Munchies - Seven Seas Bistro and Bar at PSA Tanjong Pagar Complex - Chicken Schnitzel

For sides, there were mashed potatos and coleslaw

The mixed grill had 3 kinds of meat, namely lamb, chicken and beef. Sides were french fries and coleslaw. Kevin enjoyed the meat. Thry tasted rather homely. Something that one would cook at home.
Paulin's Munchies - Seven Seas Bistro and Bar at PSA Tanjong Pagar Complex - Mixed Grill

For desserts, we had coconut sundae. 2 scoops of coconut ice cream with nata de coco and sprinkled with peanuts. I love the dessert best! Combination was simply awesome!

Paradise Dynasty is currently offering Groupon discounts at their various outlets. At $28.80, you can order $50 worth of food of their ala-carte menu.

Paradise Dynasty offers very similar food variety like Din Tai Fung with xiao long bao as their highly recommended dish. The only diff would be they offer different xiao long bao flavours like black truffle, cheese, ginseng etc etc.
Paulin's Munchies - Paradise Dynasty at Westgate - Xiao Long Bao

For today, we decided to go for their basic xiao long bao. In addition, we ordered the following dishes:

1. Sweet and sour pork
2. Fried garlic spinach
3. Fried noodles with shredded pork and black fungus

Sweet and sour pork tasted really good. It was pork ribs flesh cut and deep fried and coated with lovely sweet and sour sauce. One could have just this dish with a bowl of plain rice. The fried garlic spinach was healthily fried with little oil. A healthy dish to order.
Paulin's Munchies - Paradise Dynasty at Westgate - Sweet and sour pork

The noodles were fried in generous portion of ingredients and tasted very much like Hong Kong noodles. Comparing their xiao long bao to Din Tai Fung's, Paradise Dynasty ones are thicker in skin. But i like them better coz they tasted less porky.
