Hawkerman is a Halal certified eatery, housing 3 popular hawker brands - Tenderfresh, Warong Kim's and Ah Boy popiah, under one roof. Hawkerman provides a twist to its heritage taste and bring up some surprise to the traditional food.

Ordering is self served at the counter and customers will be given a food buzzer for food collection. Prices are subjected to 7% gst and there is no service charge. There is a central counter to take cutlery and sharing plates plus sauces. We ordered 2 mains and 1 side for today's dinner.

1. Ah Boy's popiah with Chinese chicken sausage ($4.90) - deliciously rolled popiah with 7 ingredients aka known as rainbow ingredients topped with chicken lap cheong. The popiah is juicy and delicious and I will definitely be back to try the others like the maki floss popiah. Rating: 4/5

2. Chop chop hokkien mee ($9.90) - crisply fried chicken chop placed on topped on Warong Kim's fried hokkien mee. The sambal belacan chilli
accompanying the dish was awesome. The noodles are ok except lacking the fried pork lard taste. Noodle portion isn't a lot. Rating: 3.8/5

3. Tom Yum Boomerang lemak ($10.90) - generous portion of huge chicken thigh with tom yum marination. Love the tenderness of the chicken thigh which topped nasi lemak and some side condiments like ar char and ikan bilis peanut. Rating: 3.9/5

Gyoza-ya, as the restaurant name states, serves variations of freshly made gyozas in different flavours. It is a casual dining restaurant that also offers other recommended menu like Jya Jya Men and many other side dishes.

We were at one of their outlets in Northpoint City Yishun for dinner over the weekends. The restaurant is located amongst the food street at B1. Ordering is self done on the laminated menu with marker.

1. Pan fried dumplings with mentaiko miso ($9.80) - 5 pcs of deliciously pan fried dumplings torched with mentaiko miso sauce. Heavily tasting but awesome for mentaiko lovers. Rating: 3.9/5

2. Chicken nanban ($6.80) - a very small side dish with 4pcs fried chicken marinated in dark vinaigrette sauce and topped with egg mayo. I personally like this dish a lot and it goes really well with a bowl of plain rice. Rating: 4/5

3. Garlic fried rice ($7.50) - fragrantly fried garlic rice with eggs and topped with spring onions. Not as well done as that from Sushi Tei but still very much delicious. Rating: 3.7/5

4. Aburi Borrokkori ($5.80) - Japanese roasted broccoli with 7 spices and bonito flakes. The broccoli was fresh and crunchy and tasted so good with flakes. Rating: 3.9/5

5. Tamago ($4) - nothing special to shout about. In fact, would propose not to order this side dish as the egg was hard and small. Rating: 2.5/5

Located in the coffee shop at the junction of Serangoon Road & Opal Crescent, Macpherson Minced Meat Noodles stall is managed by Uncle Yap who starts work as early as 3am in the morning to boil the soup so that it has been broiled till it's best. The opening hours are from 7am to 2pm daily and they could be sold out as early as during lunch time especially during the weekends.

We ordered 4 bowls of their dried minced meat noodles, 3 with mee kia and 1 mee pok. Both noodles are cooked to the right texture and it soaks up the broth of the soup which made the noodles extremely tasty. The crispy pork lard accompanying the noodles were simply awesome! Couldn't stop at 1!

Located along the stretch of restaurants opposite Novena Church, Novena Peranankan offers typical home cooked Nonya Food in a very cosy homely environment.

Many are very regular customers whom will be back frequently to try many of their special dishes. We were in for a deal when we visited yesterday as they had dried mee siam as their speciality dish.

1. Dry mee siam ($28) - deliciously fried dry mee siam topped generously with lots of fresh prawns. The dry mee siam was really appetizing with the loads of lime squeezed in. A must order dish if it's available! Rating: 4/5

2. Ayam bua keluak ($9) - we ordered the small size as we had quite a no of dishes. The bua keluak taste was a little blend. Would be good if the gravy was a little thicker and stronger in taste. Rating: 3.8/5

3. Babi ponteh ($9) - braised pork with bamboo shoots and mushrooms. Expected it to have very strong porky or smelly bamboo shoot taste but was really surprised by its awesome taste and pork tenderness. The dish is cooked with lean meat and would be good if it's a little more fatty. Rating: 3.9/5

4. Assam fish pedas ($14) - thick slices of red grouper cooked in thick assam sauce with brinjals, ladysfinger and pineapple slices. A very appetizing dish and tasted especially good on a cold weather. Rating: 4/5

5. Ngoh hiang ($12) - our favourite dish!! Love the crunchy water chestnut and minced meat inside the roll. Tasted so much like what my grandmother makes. Can't just stop at one! Rating: 4.2/5

6. Sambal ladysfinger ($12) - we ordered the larger size of it as we are vegetable lovers. The ladysfinger is very well cooked. Not too soft or too hard. The crunchiness of the ladysfinger was just right. Rating: 4/5

7. Nonya chap chye ($12) - braised cabbage with carrot, black fungus and tang hoon. Gravy was a little too watery but taste was still ok. Would prefer it to have a slightly stronger dried shrimp taste. Rating: 3.8/5
