This is another one of our ladies lunch exploration. Since the weather was fine, we decided to take a bus down to Meiling Street and walk to the market and food centre for lunch. The food centre is situated opposite an Indian school.
The market is on the ground floor and the escalator leads to the food centre on the 2nd floor.
All of us decided to go for tze char today since it is one of the highly recommended stall to try. Here's what we ordered:
1. Sweet and sour fish rice - generous portion of fish fried in sweet and sour sauce. Would consider it as average as compared to some other tze char stall like in AV(Alexandra Village) as the gravy is not tasty enough.
2. Kailan chicken rice - lots of kailan fried with chicken pcs. The chicken is tender and overall dish very tasty but the tze char stall in AV is still preferred.
3. Claypot ee mee - hot ee mee with lots of seafood. This tasted very good as compared to the rice dishes.
4. Fried beef horfun - this dish tasted very much like char kway teow. Sinfully oily and rich.
5. Salted vegetable soup with rice - homecooked salted vegetable soup with meat, Tofu and tomato. Tasted very homely.
Overall, Sha Bao Xiao Cai Fan is not too bad a tze char stall to try but it's not the best. One thing we know for sure is that portion is very generous.
