Citrus By The Pool is a Halal-certified cafe restaurant located at Woodlands Swimming Complex. The cafe serves Western and Asian Fusion cuisine whereby diners are able to enjoy the delicious food creations amidst the cosy homely ambience.

We did not dine-in today but opted for their delivery option. We ordered their must-try Chicken steak-out ($10.90) and spicy goreng linguine with cajun chicken ($9.80).

Citrus By The Pool at Woodlands - Paulin's Munchies

It was affordable price wise and portion was generous. Chicken steak-out comprises of juicy chicken thigh fillet seasoned with herbs and grilled to perfect tenderness. The sides include fries, calamari and salad with homemade mushroom sauce. We love the unique creamy mushroom sauce. Rating: 4.2/5

The spicy goreng linguine was really spicy and not recommended for those who cannot take spicy food. But overall was a good dish as well. Rating: 4/5

The food was excellent and would think they would have been better if dined in. At least maybe the fries will be less soggy. We enjoyed the meal and would definitely patronise again.

Two Men Bagel House is Singapore's first bagel house specializing in hand rolled bagels with tasty and devilish fillings. They started in 2014 at Icon Village and till today has another branch at Novena.

The place is so well received with the working community in both areas and thus waiting time can be quite long during lunch peak hours. The best time to visit is abt 10am on a working day and before 9am on wkends to avoid the large crowd. During our time off today, we were at their Icon Village branch to try their lovely bagels.

Ordering is done at the counter and names will be called upon food and drinks readiness. We went for their classic and morning glory bagel category. There are a few bagel flavours to choose from, ranging from original to the tasty cheddar and to the sweet cinnamon raisin. We ordered cinnamon raisin with cream cheese ($5) and Pearl Harbour with cheddar bagel ($12). The cinnamon raisin was toasted to the right texture and tasted awesome with the whipped cream cheese. The bagel was soft yet chewy. 2 thumbs up! (Rating: 4.3/5)
Cinnamon raisin with cream cheese - Two Men Bagel House

The Pearl Harbour is part of the morning glory series. It consists of spam, greens, cheese, egg and hot sauce. The ingredients were so generous and portion is huge. Delicious for meat lovers but it is a tad salty. (Rating: 4.2/5)
Pearl Harbour with cheddar bagel - Two Men Bagel House

The coffee ($4) on the other hand was on the average and had the sourish acidic after taste. Rating: 3.5/5
Black Coffee - Two Men Bagel House

The bagels are definitely a source of good breakfast/brunch/lunch option. The menu at Novena is more extensive as compared to Icon Village. We should be going over to their Novena branch soon to try their other menu, so do stay tuned!

Scrambled, located at Icon Village Tanjong Pagar, offers different variety of scrambled eggs focused brioche buns. Choices include the minimal scrambled egg brioche with a wide range of ingredients like spam, cheese, hashbrown and smoked salmon that could be added to the basics brioche. The brioche are ordered from the Michelin starred Burnt Ends and are toasted with butter to perfection upon ordering.

We were there for early lunch and was fortunate enough to beat the lunch crowd. Ordering is to be done at the counter and a food buzzer will be provided for triggering when food is ready. We ordered their signature scrambled stack ($14.90) and topped up additional $4.50 for signature fries and drink. The scrambled stack includes spam, cheese, avacado, scrambled eggs and hashbrown. It was a huge bun and very delicious with their special made sauce. However, it's a little messy to handle as it's too big to put into the mouth at one time. Rating: 4/5
Smoked salmon bun - Scrambled

Their signature fries are tossed with chilli powder and parsley, which gave it a very good taste and flavour. We enjoyed the fries a lot as well. Rating: 4/5

Smoked salmon was the other choice that we opted for ($11.90). Its smoked salmon with scrambled eggs and cheese with mentaiko mayo. A little disappointed with this bun as it was a little too fishy for the salmon. Did not really like it. Rating: 3.5/5.

We tried their new creation of honey chicken wing ($2.50) as well. This was very nicely marinated and fried. Cannot be compared to those Korean fried chix but very nicely done. Rating: 3.8/5

We have always wanted to try their dishes at Tanjong Pagar Complex Food Centre but never got the chance as it is opened only during lunch time and would be closed by dinner. Since we don't work around the area, we could only explore during dinner which means we would miss the food.

We were so glad that What The Fish opened their 2nd outlet at Vision Exchange Jurong East and we do not have to squeeze with the lunch crowd or miss it during dinner time as this outlet is opened till 8pm.

The outlet is manned by the lady owner herself, Laura where she participated in several food revival varieties to learn how to make food business sustainable. After trying the food, we believe she has succeeded.

We ordered their Mentaiko salmon with spicy cold soba ($11.90), Fried seabass with rice and onsen egg ($8.90) and regular Mentaiko fries ($5).

The fries were served first. Deliciously marinated truffle shoestring fries topped with mentaiko sauce. A little soft but still delicious. Rating: 3.8/5

Fart Tartz Cafe is not new and they have opened their 4th branch at Jcube. It is about a 20 seater corner located on the 2nd floor of Jcube where the youth clothings are.

We were rather excited about it as there were many good reviews of the place. We booked via Eatigo and were entitled 40% off all main courses.

We did not opt for their 1 for 1 main courses as the mentaiko dishes are not available on this offer. We ordered 2 mains and a side and this cost us $34 in all after discount. No gst and service charge for this restaurant.

We had the following:

1. Gooey mentaiko fish ($17.90) - for this price, its definitely very disappointing. I expected at least some concrete pc of fish but there were only 3 thinly sliced fish skins and lots of greens topped with mentaiko on flatbread. Definitely not worth the pricing. Rating: 2.9/5
Gooey mentaiko fish - Fart Tartz Cafe at Jcube - Paulin's Munchies

2. Aburi mentaiko m&c ($17.90) - Baked marcaroni and cheese topped with mentaiko sauce and bonito flakes. Portion is small. Tasted average and there again not worth the price. But at least its better than the gooey mentaiko fish. Rating: 3/5

3. Gaia greens ($12.90) - would say this is the best among all 3. We added $4 for smoked duck. The salad is in a jar and the greens are fresh and crunchy. Nothing could go very wrong with the sesame dressing. Rating: 3.2/5

The ambience and food kind attracted many young adults and students but don't think its worth the price at all. Even with the 40% discount, more decent mentaiko dishes can be found at other places.

Magusaburo Japanese Western cafe is located at the new wing of Tiong Bahru Plaza and has taken over the previous Three Little Pigs. The restaurant is beautifully and cleanly furnitured with wooden chairs and tables. Service was friendly with young lady servers keeping their smiles all the time when they serve you.

Ordering is to be done via the ipad and we ordered their value sets plus an appetizer for dinner. I had the teriyaki chicken set ($13.80).
Teriyaki chicken set - Magusaburo Japanese Western Cafe at Tiong Bahru Plaza - Paulin's Munchies
The chicken was tenderly grilled and accompanied with a small side salad, rice, miso soup, onion rings and watermelon. The chicken was awesome and goes very well with the bowl of short grain rice. Portion isn't big thus may not be substantial for the big eaters. Kevin had the pork shogayaki set ($13.80). Its thinly sliced pork with a little fat on the top fried with cabbages. Instead of onion rings, it has onsen egg as sides. The egg was cooked to the right texture and pork slices tender as well. I would rate both sets 4/5.

As appetizer, we has wagyu cheese croquettes ($8.90).

5 freshly made minced wagyu meat with cheese powdet deep fried to end with a crispy batter outside. Simply delicious with the tonkatsu sauce. Rating: 4/5

With the service and ambience, its a nice place to gather with family and frenz for a meal.

Caveman Food is not new to many and it has been listed in Her World as one of the top 10 most delicious yet healthy food cafes in Singapore. Indeed the food on display looks very healthy and menu was really very simple. Just types of proteins and side vegetables to go along. No MSG, gluten free, soy free etc as the menu states made our dinner sounded so healthy.

There are 4 choices of chicken to choose from: italian, mexican, indian and morrocan. We opted for their 2 popular italian and mexican. I had 1/4 chicken ($8.90) while Kevin had 1/2 chicken ($12.90).

Half Italian chicken - Caveman Food at Star Vista - Paulin's Munchies

One quarter Mexican chicken - Caveman Food at Star Vista - Paulin's Munchies

The italian chicken is marinated and cooked with thyme and oregano. Very strong in spice taste, so probably not recommended for those who cannot take spices. The mexican chicken is done with oregano and chilli and is milder in spice taste. The chicken is very tenderly cooked and very fresh.

Each chicken comes with 2 sides. We opted for mixed mushrooms with celery, broccoli with carrots and fried cauliflower. The fried cauliflower was very unique as it was minced and smashed into like quinoa. Tasted very good.

For non chicken lovers, you can opt for salmon or beef choices. In terms of healthiness, would give Caveman food thumbs up as they are able to maintain the food's original taste and freshness at such healthy level. Great for those who are on non-carbohydrates diet. There is no gst and service charge.

Heavenly Divine is a newly opened cafe at Boat Quay offering western food, drinks and desserts. Being new, it joined the Groupon, now known as Fave, to attract customers with their half price promo. At $30, you can order $60 worth of food and drinks with no gst and service charge.

Catching this great offer, we went to the cafe for dinner this evening. We chose their outdoor seats since the weather was fine to enjoy the cool river breeze.

The cafe has indoor seatings as well. There aren't too many to choices to choose from, but being more popular for their pastas, we decided to give them a try. We ordered the following items:

1. Mesclum salad - fresh mixed of vegetables with baby spinach tossed in japanese sesame sauce. It was refreshing and the amount of sauce was just right. Rating: 4/5
Paulin's Munchies - Heavenly Divine at Boat Quay - Mesclum salad

2. Pesto pasta with chicken - awesomely cooked spaghetti in pesto sauce. The texture of the noodles were just right and the pesto seasoning was fragrant. The rosemary grilled chicken fillet deserves two thumbs up. So tender and heavenly delicious. Rating: 4.5/5
Paulin's Munchies - Heavenly Divine at Boat Quay - Pesto pasta with chicken

3. Chicken baked rice - we expected the usual chicken chunks with lots of melted mozerella cheese on the top but we were wrong. There was a generous portion of crispily oven baked chicken fillet on top of cheesy garlic rice. The chicken was very well seasoned and the garlic rice fragrant as well. There wasn't too much melted cheese, thus not too rich. Rating: 4/5
Paulin's Munchies - Heavenly Divine at Boat Quay - Chicken baked rice

4. Rustic apple puff - apple crumble puff pastry topped with home made vanilla ice cream. The warmed apple puff melted the ice cream and when eaten together, the taste was heavenly. Mmm... Rating: 4.2/5

Found in 2009, Joe & Dough's dream was to deliver the best coffee and sandwich experience to people. They have definitely achieved this in their coffee aspect. Their Joe 1914 blend provides a smooth, unique balance of richness and aromatic coffee with citrus and subtle smokiness.

We were at their Novena Square 2 branch to try out their handcrafted sandwiches with coffee. Kevin had their ham, cheese and sundried tomato. This sandwich consists of honey baked ham, mozzarella cheese, sundried tomatoes, lettuce on sundried tomato bread. It was a delicious combination but the ham was tad too salty after a few mouthfuls. Rating: 3.5/5

Food Barn is an attractive cafe that offers quick bites like sandwiches, salads and burgers. Different branches offer slightly different food range. The one at ARC not only offers sandwiches, but also burgers, quesadilla and baked pastas and rice.

We were here for a quick lunch celebration and we ordered the following items:

1. Ham/mushroom/chicken quesadilla - tortilla wraps filled with cheese and mushrooms/ham/chicken. The combination was delicious with the melted cheese oozing out of the wrap. Each quesadilla comes with small coleslaw and potato chips. A little pricey for the dish but it tasted good. Rating: 4.2/5

Settling for a quick lunch at Alexandra Retail Center (ARC) today, we tried Spinelli's every Tue and Thurs lunch promotion.

There are 4 menu to choose from for $6.50 each. Beef lagsanae, baked chicken rice, chicken spaghetti and chicken on mashed potato.

We, 4 lovely ladies, ordered the following:

1. 2 x beef lagsanae - each lagsanae comes with side salad. The portion was nice for one. It was delicious with the generous portion of minced beef in each layer. Not too cheesy overall. Rating - 3.5/5
Paulin's Munchies - Spinelli Coffee Company at ARC - Beef lagsanae

2. Chicken baked rice - this was a simple baked rice with chicken strips. The rice was a little uncooked and hard and not much ingredients in the dish. Did not prefer this dish personally. Rating - 2.8/5

3. Creamy chicken puff - this was not on the promo menu. Fluffy and flaky pastry with creamy chicken filling. The puff pastry was good and buttery but the filling could have been improved. It was more peppery than creamy. Rating: 3/5

Guess Spinelli would be better off with their coffee and other drinks than their food. Surroundings was comfortable for working adults.

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone! On such a lovely day, hubby brought me to this cosy cafe cafe at Jln Bukit Ho Swee for Vday dinner.

The dinner reservation was done via Chope and we were entitled 10% discount.

Sin Lee Foods is about 10 mins walk from Tiong Bahru MRT. The cafe has limited indoor seats and there wasn't much table space.

They have outdoor seats which were much more spacious. Food had to be ordered at the counter and will be served.

We ordered some of their signature dishes as follow:

1. Beef and grains - 180gm of stirloin steak wonderfully marinated and cooked to the right texture served on japanese orzo rice in gravy and topped with runny sunny side egg and ginger. The overall combination was simply excellent!
Paulin's Munchies - Sin Lee Foods at Jln Bukit Ho Swee - Beef and Grains

2. Sin Lee fried chicken with waffle - their so called one and only waffle chicken dish but was a tad disappointing to us as the chicken thigh was overly fried and little tough. The waffle was freshly made upon order and tasted quite good.
Paulin's Munchies - Sin Lee Foods at Jln Bukit Ho Swee - Sin Lee Fried Chicken Waffle

3. Aburi broccoli salad - smokey torched broccoli salad with white balsamic, papadam and red sugar. This is a highly recommended side dish to order as the combination is simply awesome! Have never tasted such good broccoli dish. 4 thumbs up!

For a drink, Kevin had peach lemonade and this was refreshing to quench our thirst and greasiness.
