Sing's used to be at Everton Park and has moved to a food court in Jurong East. Offering a few Hong Kong Cha Chan Teng dishes, their most popular is nevertheless their salt baked chicken noodles

Just at a worthy price of $6.50, it offers delicious and tender whole salt baked chicken leg with springy qq noodles tossed in their delicious dark sauce and topped with fried ikan bilis and pickled cucumbers. I simply fell in love with their qq noodles. So chewy!

Kevin opted for their 2nd signature dish, braised pork with rice ($5.80). Chunks of tenderly braised pork belly served with onsen eggs, corns, ikan bilis and pickled cucumber. When mixed together, you couldn't stop chomping down the rice.

This is how I would rate the dishes:

1. Salt baked chicken noodles - 4/5

2. Braised pork rice - 3.8/5

Following Man Man, Uya is the 2nd restaurant offering live eel slaughtered on the spot and serve grilled to customers. Unlike Man Man, the killing of the eel is done behind the scene in the kitchen but customers can view the live grilling of the unagi.

The servers are very friendly with some of them being Japanese. The Japanese provided their full service by kneeling down when taking orders which is not commonly seen in our food industries.

We ordered all of their recommended dishes, starting with their salmon skin salad ($9). Freshly prepared salad topped with thinly fried salmon skin and sesame dressing. Unlike the usual salmon skin, theirs is really thin and crispy and seriously addictive. Thumbs up! Rating: 4.2/5

For mains, we had the following:

1. Hitsumabushi ($35) - medium size chopped eel served with condiments, pickles and miso soup. The eel bowl can be eaten in 3 ways. Enjoy originally, with wasabi/spring onions/seaweed, or with their special broth. I love their original taste best as the sweetness of the eel and sauce goes so well. Thumbs up! Rating: 4.3/5

2. Rare wagyu rice bowl ($27) - for non-eel eaters, you can go for their wagyu rice bowl. Tender and thinly sliced wagyu beef with sous vide egg, salad and miso soup. Love the fried garlic slices on top of the rice. Simply delicious... the combination was great when mixed together. Rating: 4.2/5
Overall, for eel lovers, Uya is definitely recommendable. We have yet to try Man Man so can't compare which is better. But this is definitely good enough for unagi lovers!

Let's Meat Up is an affordable robatayaki and Japanese food casual dining located at the basement of Plaza Singapura opposite LiHo. It offers a range of charcoal grilled meat served with soba or rice.

The staff were very friendly and they are jovial in introducing their recommended dishes to us. We ordered 5 dishes in all, 2 mains and 3 sides.

1. Grilled boneless chicken leg with soba ($10.90) - a big juicy flab of chicken thigh marinated with their special teriyaki sauce and so tenderly grilled. Love the charcoal taste with the hot soba. Delicious! Rating: 4.2/5

2. Char-grilled fresh salmon with rice ($14.90) - a slice of freshly grilled salmon on fragrant japanese rice with lemon butter sauce. The salmon is fresh but did not taste as good as the chicken. Rating: 3.8/5

3. Pulled chicken and vegetables gyoza ($6.90) - nothing very special with this side dish. Homemade minced chicken and vegetables wrapped with wanton skin. A fusion taste. Rating: 3.8/5

4. Crunchy mushrooms ($5.90) - deep fried golden mushrooms topped with peanuts and to be dipped with sesame sauce. If u like Sakae's kakiage, u will definitely love this dish! But do note that u have to wait 15mins for this dish. Rating: 3.9/5

Fart Tartz Cafe is not new and they have opened their 4th branch at Jcube. It is about a 20 seater corner located on the 2nd floor of Jcube where the youth clothings are.

We were rather excited about it as there were many good reviews of the place. We booked via Eatigo and were entitled 40% off all main courses.

We did not opt for their 1 for 1 main courses as the mentaiko dishes are not available on this offer. We ordered 2 mains and a side and this cost us $34 in all after discount. No gst and service charge for this restaurant.

We had the following:

1. Gooey mentaiko fish ($17.90) - for this price, its definitely very disappointing. I expected at least some concrete pc of fish but there were only 3 thinly sliced fish skins and lots of greens topped with mentaiko on flatbread. Definitely not worth the pricing. Rating: 2.9/5

2. Aburi mentaiko m&c ($17.90) - Baked marcaroni and cheese topped with mentaiko sauce and bonito flakes. Portion is small. Tasted average and there again not worth the price. But at least its better than the gooey mentaiko fish. Rating: 3/5

3. Gaia greens ($12.90) - would say this is the best among all 3. We added $4 for smoked duck. The salad is in a jar and the greens are fresh and crunchy. Nothing could go very wrong with the sesame dressing. Rating: 3.2/5

The ambience and food kind attracted many young adults and students but don't think its worth the price at all. Even with the 40% discount, more decent mentaiko dishes can be found at other places.

Located conveniently below Jurong East MRT right just outside Kopitiam, Monster Burger is a Korean burger chain opened under the same management as Chicken Up.

Why named Monster Burger? Coz 1 of their signature dish is this huge gigantic burger about 20cm in diameter that can be shared by 2 or more.

The burger is not available today so we opted for their main dish meal instead. Kevin had shark with garlic fried rice. Its $7 before gst and comes with 1 free drink. There is a range of sauces to choose from and we opted for the spicy one. Not too spicy afterall.
Shark with garlic fried rice - Monster Burger at Jurong East - Paulin's Munchies

The shark tasted like Manhatten fish market fish and chips. Thin batter coating the shark flesh. For those who don't like fishy taste, opt for their seabass version instead. The garlic fried rice is real garlicky and sticky. On average. Verdict: 3.5/5

We will be back to try their monster burger when its available and hopefully will be better.
