Located at level 12 Orchard Central Sky Garden, Tsukiji Fish Market Restaurant has Japan all famous fish market concept whereby the freshest ingredients are used to prepare the quality food to customers.

There are 6 different concept food available in the restaurant, ranging from the freshest sashimi to tempuras to wagyu beef. On a rainy evening, we decided to go for the Tori-Sho Chicken Chicken. This concept sells mainly chicken dishes as the name implies.

What attracted us was their chicken paitan hotpot ($26.80) that can be shared by 2 persons. It has flavourful collagen based soup with the freshest ingredients like japanese cabbages, carrots, chicken and minced chicken. We love the minced chicken as it was very well marinated. The hot piping soup warms our body and absolutely delicious! The carbo for our hotpot was their homemade ramen. It was rather pricey at $6.80 for a small bundle but very worth the price as it was springy even though soaked in the soup. Rating: 4.2/5

Hokkaido Ice Cream Puff, as the name says, has imported ice cream from Hokkaido Japan with freshly baked puffs. The first outlet was at Haji Lane and it took me some time to go try it as it was rather out of the way. We were so happy that they took over a small kiosk at the basement of Lot One Shopper's Mall just opposite Four Leaves.

They are currently having a promo now. 10% off all puffs if we like their Facebook page and share them. Puffs are priced starting from $3.90 to the most expensive at $5.90 for their japanese flavoured ice cream flavour like matcha and yuburi melon. Being a sucker for mint ice cream, we ordered that flavour.

We had to wait for about 5mins before the puff was served. The mint ice cream was milky and not too sweet. Guess its made with their all popular Hokkaido milk. The puff was flaky, buttery and absolutely delicious with the ice cream. A heavenly dessert to be shared by 2 as it can be quite filling to have it all by yourself.

We will definitely be back to try the other flavours. For durian lovers, there is the D24 flavor available. Best of all, its Halal too..Haha!

We are finally here to try the all famous Beach Road Scissors Cut Curry Rice. Located along the corner of Jln Besar Road, this coffee shop has just one stall selling curry rice. The uniqueness of this stall is that the food is cut using scissors, whether be it pork cutlet, beancurd, taupok etc.

Beach Road Scissors Cut Curry Rice at Jln Besar - Paulin's Munchies

The food is Hainanese in origin and the plate looks seriously gooey with all the sauce and pile of food on top. There are different kinds of meat to choose from. Fish fillet, pork cutlet etc etc. We love the food with the saucy curry taste. The curry isn't too coconutty and smooth in taste. We love them! The food tasted very homely. Being a Hainanese, Kevin gave it thumbs up.

Simple yet tasty. Goes well with the curry flavor. One thing to note is that when sitting outside, do keep a lookout of the sparrows as they love the curry rice as well. Hahaz!

We really enjoyed the alfresco dining of this Fish & Co branch at Westgate. Besides the cooling and cosy environment, the staffs are really friendly and always putting on their smiles to answer any queries. Ordering was done via ipad with brief introduction given by the staff on their ongoing promotion.

We went for their 1 for 1 deal which will end by 4th Nov. There are 6 dishes to choose from. We tried 2 of their recommended dishes: white fish with peri prawns and citrus-crusted barramundi. Each dish is entitled to 2 sides and we had coleslaw with truffle fries and rice with fried kale. I would strongly recommend their rice and coleslaw.

White fish with peri prawns - Fish & Co at Westgate - Paulin's Munchies

Their rice is so fragrantly fried with butter, raisin and bits of seafood and peppercorns. Yummy! Coleslaw was good as well. The truffle fries are ordinary. Tasted like any other ordinary fries. The fried kale was something unique but the vegetable was very bitter especially the stem.

Moving onto the mains, we love the citrus-crusted barramundi. Barramundi is basically asian seabass.

Citrus-crusted barramundi - Fish & Co at Westgate - Paulin's Munchies

It was very fresh and soft and goes well with the sauce. The white fish and peri prawns were good too. For 1 for 1, its definitely very value for money. The dishes come with free drinks and we opted for ice tea.

Fish & Co has definitely maintained their standards all these years and hopefully this will stay with more creations to come. Food goes best with the wonderful free live band singing every Fri.

Adding on to my Itacho Sushi review, the restaurant has recently launched several great salmon items with certain discounts given. We visited their Star Vista branch today to try them.

First on the list was their new roasted salmon with black truffle oil cream sauce mini udon at $7. The dish looks so delicious but was rather disappointed with the taste. The cream sauce was bland and it tasted like pure milk with no sugar and salt. No truffle taste at all. Rating: 2.5/5

The 2nd salmon dish was roasted salmon with cod fish caviar sushi. The roasted salmon was fat and juicy and so excellent with the fish caviar. Absolutely yummy! With its price at $1.80 each pc, it is definitely worth the try. Rating: 4.2/5

Besides salmon, we tried their new eel and scrambled egg roll with sweet unagi sauce. It was an ordinary tasting unagi roll for $8.90. Would be better if their eel was fatter. Rating: 3.2/5

For sides, we had their new deep fried shrimp gyoza with cheese teriyaki sauce. An excellent dish for cheese lovers for $3.90. The gyoza was drizzled abundantly with the cheese teriyaki sauce. Rating: 3.8/5

The rest are our usual favourite like roasted egg with curry lobster, wafu pork salad and deep fried chicken.

Located beside Kopitiam, Ban Heng Teochew Porridge is a new addition to the wide variety of food offerable at Northpoint. The dishes offered at Ban Heng looks very very attractive under the spotlights and they all look extremely delicious with a wide variety of choices. There are 2 types of porridge to choose from, sweet potato porridge or plain porridge.

For dinner today, we ordered 2 types of porridge to accompany the dishes. We ordered 5 dishes in all: sweet and sour fish, sauteed mushrooms, braised cabbage, braised eggplant and fried taukwa with minced meat

Sauteed mushrooms - Ban Heng Teochew Porridge - Paulin's Munchies

sweet and sour fish - Ban Heng Teochew Porridge - Paulin's Munchies

Fried taukwa with minced meat - Ban Heng Teochew Porridge - Paulin's Munchies

Braised cabbage - Ban Heng Teochew Porridge - Paulin's Munchies

Braised eggplant - Ban Heng Teochew Porridge - Paulin's Munchies

The food are all very tasty and with very homecook feel, especially for the fried taukwa with minced meat. Tasted so much like how my granny would cook it. The sweet and sour fish is also very fresh and soft. All so good with the chilli accompanying with it.

These 5 dishes with the 2 porridges cost $16.60 in total. A little pricey but more worthwhile than the teochew porridge at Havelock. We enjoyed the dishes here much more. Do come Ban Heng to try but must come early to avoid the crowd as seats are limited.

Sushi express has recently launched 2 new items to their menu. Introducing caramalized salmon sushi and cheese prawn sushi, they looked extremely delicious and affordable at $1.50 per plate.

We were at their Clementi Mall outlet and surprising we don't have to queue on a Fri evening. We ordered 16 plates in all with 6 of them just the caramalised salmon sushi and salmon maki. At $1.50, we couldn't ask for more. It was fresh and not fishy. We had the rest like usual tamago sushi, teriyaki saba, mocked abalone etc.

Tianbao Szechuan Kitchen combines the best of both local Singaporean flavours with Szechuan variations. Their food items are not only unique in taste, but also creative in their presentation.

With their first outlet at Ngee Ann City Orchard, it has attracted a constant stream of supporters. They opened their 2nd outlet at Hillion Mall, just opposite of MOF on the 1st floor. The crowd isn't as many as the outlet at Orchard. We could easily find seats at 7pm. We ordered the following:

1. Sweet and sour pork slices ($12.90) - thinly sliced pork deep fried and cooked with delicious sauce. A very delicious dish to go with plain rice. Rating: 4/5

2. String beans with minced meat ($12.9.) - string beans are cut and deep fried. They are then sauteed with dried chilli, garlic and minced meat. Rating: 3.8/5

4. Sweet corn with salted egg sauce ($9.80) - a dish for pure salted egg lovers. The corn pcs are deep fried and then cooked with salted egg sauce. We found the sauce a little plain.  Rating: 3.5/5

Besides the usual ala carte dishes, one can go for la mian or fried rice or dim sum dishes. Their concept is very much like Crystal Jade except they offer much more spicy dishes. With the recent FAVE promo, this restaurant is worth a try.

Kajiken, Japan's mazesoba, has opened its 2nd shop at Novena Square 2. Maze means mix it and soba means noodles, so it means mix the noodles! As per standard rule by the restaurant, we are suppose to mix the noodles in 20s.

The noodles are dry and they come with a small cup of soup. The signature will be mazesoba nagoya style. Noodles tossed with spicy minced pork, spring onions and soft boil egg. The noodles are very springy and not dry at all due to the wetness from the egg. Lovely! Rating: 4/5

There are a few other choices, like with fried chicken or all toppings. They tasted all about the same, but we personally prefer the nagoya style. For more flavours, you can add in vinegar and chilli oil. The fried chicken is tender and awesome in taste.

Prices are ranged from $12.30 to $15.80. Additional toppings can also be added. Kajiken is definitely recommended if you want to eat dry ramen. The other branch will be at Orchid Hotel.
