Lao Jiang Superior Soup is an eatery that specialises Malaysian fish soup and superior Ipoh horfun. Superior soup, being their signature dish, is very well received among the customers.
At $9.50 a bowl, customer can choose between rice or soup/dry noodles. Their 2nd most popular dish is their red grouper fish soup priced at $12.
We went for the following dishes:
1. Superior soup with horfun ($9.50) - silky ipoh horfun cooked in sweet and tasty broth with generous ingredients in them. There were 2 slices of prawn, abalone, fish maw, pork balls, batang fish slices, mushrooms, fish sticks. All so fresh and tasty. Definitely deserves the thumbs up. Rating: 4.2/5
2. Fish soup with dry meepok ($6) - fish soup usually comes with rice. But one has to top up with $2 to change to noodles. The black dry mee pok has the malaysian noodle flavour, with chilli and pork lard. So springy and delicious. Highly recommended to order with soup. Rating: 4/5
3. Ngoh hiang ($7) - homemade ngoh hiang with chilli sauce. A little mushy in the filling but chilli was good. Rating: 3.8/5
4. Kyoto you tiao ($6) - stuffed you tiao with sotong filling. Crispily fried and topped with sweet chilli sauce and crushed peanuts. Quite well done. Rating: 4/5
5. You mai cai ($4) - blanched iceberg lettuce with oyster sauce and fried garlic. Simple yet delicious. Rating: 4/5
Lao Jiang Superior Soup is tasty and yet not thirsty after drinking. We would definitely be back for more!!
