Situated side by side, Akimitsu Tendon is the newer subsidary of Japan Foods Holdings. Akimitsu is an award winning tempura and tendon restaurant originated from Asakusa Japan. The chefs are all from Japan and the tendon is fried with the freshest ingredients and batter.

As Osaka Ohsho is side by side, we gotten the privilege to be able to order dishes from Osaka Ohsho menu as well.

Ordering is done via the tablet at the table. System is a little slow but still managed to get the orders through. There weren't much crowd as compared to some other restaurants.

Kevin ordered the signature tendon priced at $14.90. It comes with white fish, 2 prawns, 1 tempura egg, chicken fillet and assorted vegetables.

The batter is thick as compared to the tendon restaurant at Tanjong Pagar and sauce a tad too salty. We very much preferred the one at Tendon Itsuki. Rating: 3.5/5

I had salted egg chicken set from Osaka Ohsho. The set comes with 6pcs gyoza, soup and rice. For $15.90, it is definitely a value for money meal.

Aji-Ichi is a Japanese concept restaurant by Astons which offers pocket friendly and delicious Japanese food. Not only is it well received by the teenagers, many working adults and families are also enjoying their dishes at such affordable prices. Dons ranges from $8.90 onwards with sushis starting from $2 onwards.

Thankfully the queue wasn't too long by the time we reached at 6pm. All orders have to be self written on a order sheet and paid upfront before food is served. We were spoilt with choices and all seemed to look good. 3 out of 4 were their highly recommended dishes:

1. Gyu don ($11.90-recommended) - generous portion of thinly sliced beef stir fried with lots of onions and sauce topped on rice. With the onsen egg mixed together, its definitely a fulfilling dish for one. Rating: 3.9/5

2. Aburi salmon mentai roll ($15.90 - recommended) - juicy salmon topped with torched mentai mayo. Deliciously sinful and we simply love it! Rating: 4/5

3. Chicken nanban ($3.90 - recommended) - 3pcs of juicy fried chicken accompanied with their special nanban sauce. The sauce was a little watery. Would have been better if the mayo was thicker. Rating: 3.5/5

Several stalls have changed at CookHouse by Koufu in JEM. One of our recommended Indonesia BBQ chicken and rice stall has been taken over by a new fusion rice bowl stall, Cheers Cut.

Cheers Cut offers various kind of meat and seafood bowls with tossed salads as sides. Kevin and I went for 2 of their recommended chicken bowl:

Grilled chicken thigh set and Samurai chicken set. Both priced at $7.90 each, each bowl is topped with generous portions of chicken.
Gilled chicken thigh set - Cheers Cut at CookHouse by Koufu JEM - Paulin's Munchies

The grilled chicken is very well marinated and the sauce goes very well with the plain rice. It would be even better if the chicken meat is more tender.
Samurai chicken set - Cheers Cut at CookHouse by Koufu JEM - Paulin's Munchies

The Samurai chicken tasted like Taiwan 鸡扒. The chicken is freshly fried upon ordering and is accompanied with 5 kinds of sauces. I opted for the honey mustard. Tasted very nice with rice and tossed salad.

Hokkaido Ryori, another concept of Ichiban Boshi, offers Hokkaido speciality dishes with a very wide range of salmon items.

Located at B1 of Waterway Point, this Ichiban Boshi restaurant is packed with customers as early as 530pm. Fortunately we only had to wait for 20mins before our turn. The servers are cheery, always putting on a smile. We ordered 3 main staples and 2 sides today.

1. Shitake ebi mentai mayo ($8.90) - 3 juicy shitake mushrooms topped with prawn and deep fried with tempura coating. The latter is then topped with mentaiko mayo. Deliciously good! Rating: 4/5

Try this oozing cheese bread from Austrian at Waterway Point. Priced at $5.80 per slice, this wonderfully delicious cheese bread deserves 2 thumbs up.
Guschlbauer Bakery at Waterway Point - Paulin's Munchies

The flavourful cheese oozes out at every bite and its simply awesome!! Though pricey, this bread is worth its value. Would definitely return for their other flavours when possible. It would go so well with a cup of good hot bitter coffee.

Nihon Mura Express is another popular sushi-on-the belt chain second to Sushi Express. It does not have as many branch as Sushi Express but personally felt that the range of sushi is much wider with more sides and appetizers as well. All plates are priced at $1.60 per plate.

The sushi we felt were much fresher and better prepared as compared to Sushi Express. Some must order sides include the egg mayo tartar chicken karaage, fried dumpling, chicken yakitori and mentaiko scallops.

As for the sushi, we preferred the salmon mentaiko, floss sushi and smoked duck sushi. For desserts, one can opt for their chocolate eclair.

Would say that the food serving service is fast. The sashimi is served upon ordering and is not seen rotating on the belt to keep its freshness.

For birthday gals and guys, the plates are priced at $1 each with your age. Great deal especially for the students. Nihon Mura definitely serves as a very affordable Japanese meal for both the young and adults.

G7 Liang Kee is one of the older Teochew Chinese restaurant in Singapore. Previously located at Tew Chew Street,  G7 Liang Kee offers a wide range of traditional Teochew dishes at affordable prices.

There is another competitor Teochew restaurant with very similar name called Mu Liang Zai Liang Kee just situated a stone's throw away from G7. Both offers very similar dishes.

We decided to try and review on G7 first, thinking that it should be nicer with the crowd. There aren't many tables around so do come early or make reservations.

We ordered 4 dishes in all:

1. Braised duck and beancurd ($15) - portion is big and more than enough for 2 persons. The duck is tenderly braised and retains the authenticity of teochew taste. With the specially homemade chilli, this dish is worth the try. Rating: 4.2/5

2. Sambal kangkong ($8) - a simple dish that can be ordered at any tze char stall but this dish is very well stir fried with lots of "hae bi" and sambal. So fragrantly delicious. Rating: 4.2/5

3. Fried prawn roll ($14) - rather expensive for 7pcs of ngoh hiang. Delicous but yet nothing too special. Rating: 3.8/5

4. Chye po dry horfun ($8) - the hor fun has a slight charred taste and it was a little bland. Would be better if it slightly more salty. Rating: 3.8/5

Founder Bak Kut Teh has been established since 40 years ago in 1978 by founder Mr Chua. The broth recipe comes from Mr Chua himself and has been improving all these years.

Founder has evolved from just selling bak kut teh to many other dishes. We were at their Jurong Point branch for dinner today.

With promotion at Eatigo, there was 10% discount entitlement for all dishes. We ordered the following highly recommended dishes:

1. Founder bak kut teh ($9.80) - their signature bak kut teh. 1 prime rib with 2pcs of normal rib in peppery white soup. The soup is refillable. Its peppery but doesn't taste as rich as Song Fa's. Rating: 3.8/5
