Fook Kin, a collaboration between Class 95 DJs The Muttons, Roast Paradise and Fat Boys offers delicious Cantonese roast meat delicacies deserving 2 thumbs up, especially for their caramelized char siew. The restaurant is decorated with pink neon lightings and marble top tables. A nostalgic yet modern HK feel restaurant located along the popular Killiney Road.
Roasted Treasures Noodle - Fook Kin

Fortunately we made a reservation via Chope to secure a table as the restaurant was very crowded with customers even late in the evening. Orders are made via tablet and food was very promptly serve within 5mins after ordering.

1. Roasted Treasures Noodle ($9.80) - a choice between mee pok or mee Kia topped with caramelized char siew and roasted sio bak. The char siew literally melted in my mouth and it was awesome. Similarly, for a non sio bak eater, I must admit that the sio bak was equally good, very even distribution of meat and fats. The mee pok was cooked to the right texture with bak chor and onsen egg. 2 thumbs up! Rating: 4.2/5

3. Sweet and sour fish ($12) - generous portion of crispy fish fillet fried in sweet and sour sauce. Like any tze char dish and would go well with a bowl of white rice. Rating: 3.9/5

4. Golden Lotus Roots chips ($7.80) - thinly fried lotus roots drizzled with salted egg sauce. Serves as a super good snack with beer. Rating: 4.1/5

Imperial Treasure Nan Bei Restaurant, located on the 5th floor of Ngee Ann City Shopping Center, serves the best of the Northern and Southern Chinese cuisine. From Sichuan flavours to Cantonese dim sums, delicious food can definitely be experienced and savored here.

We were here for brunch with our lovely group of buddies at 11am. There are 2 seating timings available for dim sum, 11am and 1pm. We opted for their earlier timings as we were afraid that their signature and recommended food will all be sold out.

The service at the restaurant was excellent. The restaurant manager actually made an effort to ensure 7pcs of dim sum were served for each person even though the actual dim sum comes in 3s, 4s or 6s.

The must try dim sum includes: Liu sha bao, xiao long bao, fried yam dumplings, fried prawn dumplings, spicy dumplings, carrot cake, porridge and beef brisket noodles.

This is a new restaurant that has taken over the previous Orange Lantern located on the 2nd floor of ARC. It is a HK style food restaurant concept very similar to Xin Wang but offers much lesser variety and more staple noodles and rice dishes.

Ordering is self service and is to be done at the cashier with payment done upfront. No GST and service charge at the current moment.

We tried 5 dishes in all for lunch this afternoon. It includes:

1. Chicken siew mai ($2.50) - rather disappointing dish as it is so mushy in the center and tasted weird. Rating: 2/5
Chicken siew mai - 很好吃 Hen Hao Chi at ARC - Paulin's Munchies

2. Fan Choy ($2.50) - at 2.50, its rather pricey but the fan choy is made by the restaurant with fresh char siew on top of the rice. Rating: 3.8/5

3. Fried rice with chicken cutlet ($10.90) - rice is plain and simple but the chicken is so well done. Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Rating: 3.9/5

4. Dry gong bao chicken noodle ($8.90) - simply love the springiness and texture of the noodles. Tasted a little salty but overall still considered as a recommended dish to order. Rating: 3.8/5

5. Dry sesame chicken noodle ($8.90) - tasted very much like the gong bao chickrn but much less spicy. Rating: 3.8/5

The dishes portion is generous and service very prompt which attracted many people to the restsurant. We should be back for another meal in the near future.

Sun Lok Noodle House has relocated from Jurong SuperBowl to their new place at 321 Clementi. Taking over previous Xin Wang HK Cafe, this hidden gem can be found on the 2nd level of 321 Clementi Mall.

We have seen some very good reviews of this restaurant but has yet to try. So here we are at their new place. The restaurant gives a very old feel like in HK with the wooden furniture smell.

The staffs are older and friendly. Ordering of dim sum is done by circling on the order sheet while other food needs to be ordered via the servers.

First on the list is their braised peanuts. Most of the time I would have rejected the appetizer but couldn't resist the piping hot and deliciously braised peanut. They were not too soft yet very delicious.

After the appetizer enjoyment we proceeded with our main and dim sum.

The dim sum taste is very much like those we had in HK and we simply love their food. Very much comparable to Crystal Jade actually but at a more affordable price. We will be back to try their other tze char dishes.

1. Steam siew mai ($5.20) - at this price, one could enjoy crunchy and succulent siew mai. It was great every bite and could taste the prawn freshness. Tasted very much like the dim sum we had in HK. Rating: 4.3/5

2. Fried horfun with beef and black bean sauce ($7.90) - reasonably priced at $7.90, this is an absolutely delicious main. The horfun is silky smooth and the gravy was just right in consistency. Awesome! Rating: 4.3/5

3. Pan fried carrot cake ($3.80) - most of the carrot cake would have the hei bi taste but this has lap cheong taste in it too. The texture was just right and you can actually taste the bits of radish. Yummy! Rating: 4.2/5

4. Fried springroll ($3.20) - this was a little too salty to our liking. Nothing too special to comment on. Rating: 3.5/5

5. Poached vegetables ($4.50) - simple steam vegetables in oyster sauce. The branches looks big but definitely soft enough to bite in. Rating: 4/5

Sheng Kee Desserts offers a tempting range of authentic Hong Kong style desserts, snacks as well as fulfilling noodles and rice that are prepared with quality ingredients. They have several branches in Singapore with the latest outlet opened at Hillion Mall.

We tried their following dishes and were rather pleased with the taste:

1. SK signature combination noodle dry - this noodle has wanton, dumpling and char siew slices. The dumplings were plump and juicy and wanton so crunchy too. We love the noodle texture as they were thin and springy with not much ghee taste. The char siew slices were fresh as well. Rating: 4/5

2. Steamed chicken with honshimeiji mushroom and shredded ginger rice - a very healthy steam rice with chicken chunks, mushrooms and ginger. The gravy was light and tasty and was a great one dish meal. Rating: 3.8/5

3. Mango sago pamelo dessert - nothing to shout abt as the dessert was diluted. The mango should have been stronger and thicker. Rating: 3/5

4. Black sesame paste - thick and rich paste excellent for hair. May not be the best but could satisfy our black sesame craving. Rating: 3.5/5

For a nice comfort meal, Sheng Kee Dessert can definitely be considered but I guess it also depends on the outlet. The one at Hillion mall has better reviews as compared to others.

We are back at Crystal Jade Kitchen to eat my favourite roasted spring chicken. This is our 3rd time here for their absolutely delicious chicken.

Besides the usual chicken, we ordered 3 other dishes to go with it. They are stir fried garlic broccoli, lai wan congee and fried spring roll

The broccoli is fragrantly fried with minced garlic. Portion is a little small but still ok for 2 to share. The congee was good. Inside was generous portion of sliced fish, shredded pork and cuttlefish.

The you tiao was crispy. Portion is good enough to share as well. Lastly was the commendable fried spring roll. It is self made by Crystal Jade and it was full of vegetables. Each mouthful was filled with mushroom and turnips. Yummy 😋

We just simply love Crystal Jade Kitchen for their dim sum and other main dishes. Look how happy Kevin looked after the meal.

We are back at Canton Paradise Star Vista to try the rest of their dishes while the Groupon offer is still valid. This time instead of dim sum, we went for their main menus. Only one previous dim sum dish was ordered and that was their crispy bbq pork buns.

The 4 other dishes that we tried were as follow:

1. Vegetarian black fungus, snow peas and mushrooms. It's a simple vegetable dish cooked with vegetarian oyster sauce. Fungus portion was generous and very tasty for a vegetarian dish.

2. Bbq pork with honey sauce. This is one of their popular roasted meat dishes. Bbq pork was lean but not tough and goes well with chilli dip.

3. Fried XO carrot cake. It is small carrot cake bits fried with XO sauce, eggs and transports. Very fragrant but the taste is not as nice as the one from Royal China at Raffles Hotel.

4. Chee Cheong fun with caipu. I love this dish the best and it is seriously one of their creative dish. The caipu is fragrantly fried with garlic and serve as a filling for the smooth silky Chee Cheong fun. Awesome dish!

Vivo City basement has been renovated not too long ago with a wider range of food restaurants to choose from. It was for our colleague's birthday celebration that we decided to try London Fat Duck for lunch today. Fortunately that we were there early, we managed to get seats for 6 without waiting.

We ordered most of their recommended dishes as follow:
1. Crispy london duck bun
2. Crispy london black pepper duck bun
3. Crispy pandan salted egg bun
4. Half london roasted duck
5. Bbq pork and roasted meat
4. Chee cheong fun with you tiao
5. Fried shrimp dumplings
6. Dumpling soup
7. Plain noodles

The london roasted duck was good. The fat layer in between the skin and meat was so even. Meat was tender as well.
Paulin's Munchies - London Fat Duck at Vivo City

It was told that the duck goes through special programs before achieving this kind of succulent texture.Bbq pork and roasted meat were excellent. Meat was not too fatty.

Among the buns, we preferred the crispy salted egg bun best. Oozing salted egg puree from frangrant pandan buns. Buttery and sinfully good.
Paulin's Munchies - London Fat Duck at Vivo City

Their noodles are not so gheey in taste as compared to Mak's noodles. Chee cheong fun was good as well.

Overall, London Fat Duck is place for bbq meats and dim sum so do give it a try.

Canton Paradise finally offered their Groupon discount and we took the opportunity to grab their offer while it last. They are offering $50 worth of voucher at $28. 80 on ala carte menu on weekdays.

Canton Paradise offers a wide range of Hong Kong cuisine from dim sum, roasted meat to many others. We are here for their dim sum today. Today's dinner includes the following:

1. Crispy char siew bun
2. Siew mai
3. Liu sha bao
4. Braised chicken feet
5. Plum sauce cod fish bites
6. Steam beancurd skin roll in laksa sauce
7. Chilled coconut red bean cake

For 1st timers, their must order dim sum dishes include items 2 to 4. The crispy char siew bun is nice, but not as buttery as those buns from tim ho wan and we found the filling a tad too salty.
Paulin's Munchies - Canton Paradise at Star Vista - Crispy char siew bun

The siew mai was fresh and crunchy with the prawn.

Liu sha bao and chicken feet were super thumbs up and are better than crystal jade ones.

The fish bites are made up of fresh cod fried in batter and coated with plum sauce.

Lastly for dessert, we tried their chilled coconut red bean cake which was nothing too special to comment on.
