Recommended by some viewers on Facebook for their delicious tze char, we travelled down to Bukit Gombak to give stall a try. Meng Kee Seafood is located in Meng Soon Fatt coffeeshop which is about 5 mins from Bukit Gombak mrt.
There wasn't much crowd when we reached about 7pm. We did not order their highly recommended patong fish head but went for some of the other local tze char dishes instead. 3 dishes we had were as follow:
1. Hotplate tofu - portion wasn't big. The hotplate tofu differs from other tze char stall in the sauce. It has a Thai flavour in it and this sizzling dish goes extremely well with plain rice. Prawns were fresh and crunchy. Rating: 4/5
2. Sweet and sour fish - thinly battered fish slices cooked in sweet and sour sauce. Not the best that we have eaten so far but still commendable on their tender fish slices. Rating: 3.5/5
3. Baby kailan - the kailan was a little tough but still quite fragrantly fried. Rating: 3.5/5
We should be back the next time to try their patong fish head and luncheon meat fried rice. So do stay tuned!
Items Ordered:
