Seasonal Tastes at The Westin Asia Square 2

A birthday celebration planned for mummy today. UOB is having a promotional buffet discount at Seasonal Tastes at The Westin. 

For every one paying adult, it is 50% off the 2nd adult. It is seafood buffet fiesta on a Fri night. The restaurant is located on the 32nd floor of the building. With a wonderful seaview, it was a great enjoyment to eat and relax. The waiters are majority Indians and they are very prompt and attentive in their service. 

The buffet spread has loads of fresh seafood, including boston lobsters, snow crab, fresh oysters, mussels, prawns and many others. 

The lobsters are also cooked in chilli crab sauce which served as a great dipping sauce with fried mantou. Besides oysters, there were fresh sashimi cuts and sushi. The sashimi slices were sweet and succulent. 

There were sections for carved meat and salmon, Indian food, Thai food, chinese and also live cooking station. The dessert corner has wide variety of chocolates, gelato, cakes and kuehs. 

Here are some of the must eat items:

1. Fresh lobsters - so sweet and juicy. Rating: 4/5

2. Lobsters in chilli crab sauce - great sauce with mantou . Rating: 4/5

3. Sashimi - fresh and sweet. Rating: 4/5

4. Baked salmon - non fishy taste and fresh. Rating: 4/5

5. Indian corner - a few great Indian curry dishes with bryani and naan.Rating: 4/5

6. Pasta - choose your own pasta in different sauces and ingredients. Rating: 3.8/5

7. For desserts, would recommend the pecan tart and bluberry cheesecake. Rating: 4/5

Overall, it was a wonderful experience and with the delicious food, this is a buffet to try, especially if you are a seafood eater.

Triple Three Restaurant at Mandarin Orchard

It meant to be an advance birthday celebration for my hubby. We took the 1-for-1 promotion for POSB/DBS credit card for Triple Three Restaurant buffet lunch to celebrate this wonderful occasion. 

This was the 3rd time eating the buffet lunch for me but first time for Kevin. We were shown to our table by friendly staff and we started on our feast. 

First on our list was definitely the freshly sliced sashimi. Each salmon slice so juicy and sweet. Mmm... There was a wide variety of salad section, japanese section, Indian section, western section and lastly the dessert and fruits section. 

We love the indian naan with the various curries. Still so good as ever. The roast slices are very good as well. The beef and turkey ham so tender. 

The freshly cooked pastas were excellent! The linguine cooked to the right springiness and taste. 

The dessert variety was wide. From carrot cakes to kuehs, they tasted good and goes well with the black coffee offered on the machine. Yummilicious!

For this one for one promo, Triple Three offers good variety of buffet for lunch and its worth giving this restaurant a try with family and frenz.

Melt Cafe at Mandarin Oriental

This is for my nephew's birthday celebration. All of us were invited to Melt cafe at Mandarin Oriental for buffet dinner. Melt cafe offers international buffet with bbq grill on Thurs, Fri and Sat. 

At $88 per person, they offer seafood like lobsters, oysters, prawns and many more. Melt cafe is good for their Indian spread and bbq.

Surprisely there were many customers on a weekend. At 6.15 pm, many customers were already queuing up for dinner. Full house reservation on a Sat. For starters, we tried their lobster and sashimi. 

Sashimi was fresh and sweet, excellent with wasabi. Lobster on the other hand was a tad too salty and tough. The ones from Amara hotel were better.

The Indian spread was still as good, especially their chickpeas and naan. The rest of the spread was ok but nothing too fantastic to comment about. Some must try dishes from the buffet are naan, chickpeas, satays from bbq grill, steam fish. 




The dessert section is quite good, with wide range of juices, fruits, cakes and ice cream. The waffle with ice cream is a must try with their home made marshmallow.

Overall, Melt Cafe is a good cafe that serves a wide range international buffet food. However, Shangri-la still serves better choices and quality. HsBC is currently having promotion of 4 for the price of 3.

Buffet lunch at Orchard hotel

A group of us bought the Groupon vouchers for this buffet lunch deal at Orchard hotel. Situated behind Claymore Connection, one could easily access the hotel through this new shopping centre.

We were greeted by friendly staff. The buffet had a wide variety of food, from japanese sushi and sashimi, indian corner, local delights, western delights, salads and desserts. 

There were a few commendable dishes that were a must try. They are their grilled satays, laksa, seafood pie, roast beef, sushis. The satays are so tenderly grilled and definitely beat those from satay club. The laksa taste was as good as katong laksa. Roast beef was tender and sushi were nicely done.

For desserts, there were a reasonable variety of cakes and ice cream too with the opera cake most commendable.

At abt S$34 per pax using groupon, it was quite a decent buffet to try.
