En Sakaba is a fusion of standing bar and bar with with seats now very popular with bar hoppers, especially in Japan. The restaurant offers a wide variety of Japanese grilled dishes that go extremely well with beers or wines.

We were at their JEM outlet for a late dinner this evening. We chose the outdoor alfresco dining so as to enjoy the cool evening breeze and live music from Starker. We ordered 2 dons and a side.

1. Foie Gras Don ($22) - portion is small for its price but quality is definitely value for money. The onsen egg was so well done. One touch and the silky yoke flows along the yakiniku beef slices which was extremely tender. The japanese rice was sweet as well. Yummy! Rating: 4/5

2. Kurobuta don ($18) - one of their very popular pork cheek don grilled with special sauce on rice. It was so tender every mouthful and we simply love their sauce. Rating: 4.2/5

3. Jumbo Hotate with Mentaiko cheese ($13) - tenderly grilled giant hotate with topped with mentaiko cheese. The natural soup from the scallop was simply awesome and so sweet in taste. The soup accompanied with the dons tasted so good... Rating: 4.2/5

We love the food here but prices are a little steep as compared to some other Japanese restaurant. Nevertheless with the quality and nice ambience, its worth a try to chill out with frenz!

Prego is not a new restaurant and has been around for years. In 2017, they have just updated their menu with the ever growing needs to change to customer's requirements.

We were here to celebrate Kevin's birthday. Via Eatigo, we managed to grab a good deal at 30% discount off ala carte menu and non alcoholic drinks.

Service staff were friendly and ambience is definitely suited for business and friends catchup. Upon ordering, a small crate of bread is served.

Freshly baked hot ciabatta to go with the olive and vinegarette dressings and whipped cream for the other. The bread tasted awesome! For starter, we ordered their caesar salad with smoke salmon ($26).

The lettuce was fresh and crunchy with the dressing in the right amount. Salad tasted so refreshing. Rating: 4/5

For mains, we ordered as follow:

1. Mangiafuoco pizza ($38) - a huge thin crusted pizza topped with sliced beef steak, jalapeno, red onion, tomato sauce and mozerella cheese. Very fragrant and pizza crust baked to the right crispiness. A must try pizza! Rating: 4.2/5

2. Capelli Aragosta ($39) - pasta portion is much smaller. Its angel hair pasta with maine lobster, sweet chilli and onion with vine tomato base sauce. It tasted fusion with a little chilli crab taste. The lobster was fresh but little. Rating: 3.8/5

For drinks, you could try their apple cucumber soda which was extremely resfreshing. We love it! The restaurant provided us a complimentary cake which was real chocolatey and rich. Overall dining experience was great.

The restaurant's slogan: Tteokbokki for the first meal! Fried rice for the second meal! Indeed Dooki offers a wide range of different tteokbokki to be eaten all as you like during this 90min buffet. Besides tteokbokki, they also offer other ingredients like vegetables, noodles, meat etc etc. You can choose what you like to be placed into the hot pot. There are finger foods like fried squid rings, dumplings etc.

The kimchi fried rice is definitely an attraction that must be eaten so do save some tummy for this. The staff will cook the fried rice based on the portion and ingredients you choose. The charred taste is simply awesome!! We love it!! The last of the meal will be their special korean noodle but we both are too full to stomach anymore.

For non spicy eaters, they don't have to worry as the spiciness of the sauce is up to us to adjust. There is a poster showing us on how to mix the different sauce's spiciness. One side to try is the korean fish cake stick. Its cooked readily for one's consumption. You can add extra flavouring by dipping into the stew. Awesome!!

At $18.80 per adult, Dookki definitely offers a great range of spread and fun cooking the food. We will definitely be back to try it with cheese and korean noodle the next round.

Starker Q, located on the first floor of JEM, is a great place for drinks and bites.

With some alfresco dining seatings, customers can enjoy cool beer with bites and great songs brought about by the local band. Songs dedication are allowed and nothing beats the day by unwinding at this place.

After a day of visiting, we are here to unwind and have dinner. Ordering of food is done via self automated kiosk. We had the following:

1. Cabonara ($11.80) - decent dish to have. Sauce is creamy but not too thick and love the spaghetti texture. The only pity is that the bacon bits are not pan fried. Rating: 3.5/5
Cabonara - Starker Q at JEM - Paulin's Munchies

2. Basil chicken pasta ($13.80) - portion is generous with lots of minced chicken fried with string beans and basil leaves and spaghetti. The dish is a little oily and basil taste not too strong after all. Rating: 3.2/5

3. Har cheong chicken bites ($8.80) - well marinated deep fried chicken bites served with thai sweet and sour sauce. The chicken is juicy and well marinated. Good dish with beer. Rating: 3.5/5

Though the food is not fantastic, the beer is definitely worth a try. We will definitely be back here to unwind ourselves

Sun Lok Noodle House has relocated from Jurong SuperBowl to their new place at 321 Clementi. Taking over previous Xin Wang HK Cafe, this hidden gem can be found on the 2nd level of 321 Clementi Mall.

We have seen some very good reviews of this restaurant but has yet to try. So here we are at their new place. The restaurant gives a very old feel like in HK with the wooden furniture smell.

The staffs are older and friendly. Ordering of dim sum is done by circling on the order sheet while other food needs to be ordered via the servers.

First on the list is their braised peanuts. Most of the time I would have rejected the appetizer but couldn't resist the piping hot and deliciously braised peanut. They were not too soft yet very delicious.

After the appetizer enjoyment we proceeded with our main and dim sum.

The dim sum taste is very much like those we had in HK and we simply love their food. Very much comparable to Crystal Jade actually but at a more affordable price. We will be back to try their other tze char dishes.

1. Steam siew mai ($5.20) - at this price, one could enjoy crunchy and succulent siew mai. It was great every bite and could taste the prawn freshness. Tasted very much like the dim sum we had in HK. Rating: 4.3/5

2. Fried horfun with beef and black bean sauce ($7.90) - reasonably priced at $7.90, this is an absolutely delicious main. The horfun is silky smooth and the gravy was just right in consistency. Awesome! Rating: 4.3/5

3. Pan fried carrot cake ($3.80) - most of the carrot cake would have the hei bi taste but this has lap cheong taste in it too. The texture was just right and you can actually taste the bits of radish. Yummy! Rating: 4.2/5

4. Fried springroll ($3.20) - this was a little too salty to our liking. Nothing too special to comment on. Rating: 3.5/5

5. Poached vegetables ($4.50) - simple steam vegetables in oyster sauce. The branches looks big but definitely soft enough to bite in. Rating: 4/5

We finally tried Saizeriya! Always seeing many youngsters queuing up for the food, it tempted us several times to try it but gave up always because of the crowd.

We were at their Orchard gateway branch this evening and was happy that there weren't any queue.

Ordering is done via the servers and the food readiness is very much comparible to yesterday's one at Sakon Thai. The salad we ordered came within 5 mins upon ordering.

Looking through the menu, we finally understood why it attracted so many students. Mains are priced as cheap as $5.90 inclusive of gst and no service charge. Here's what we had:

1. Spinach and chicken gratin ($5.90) - a small portion of penne baked in cream sauce and cheese. A little too milky for my liking. Rating: 3.2/5

2. Smoked salmon salad ($5.90) - a decent salad with thousand island sauce and 3 large slices of smoked salmon. Rating: 3.8/5

3. Carbonara ($5.90) - a decent portion of spaghetti in carbonara sauce topped with slices of bacon and parmesan cheese. Not too creamy. Rating: 3.8/5

4. Fried calamari ($4.90) - at just this price, we don't expect much and thrue enough, the calamari are small but tasted still ok with the bread crumb batter. Rating: 3.2/5

5. Butter corn ($2.90) - we love this dish the best. Garlic buttered corns! Yummy! Rating: 3.9/5

Sakon Thai has opened their 2nd outlet at the new Northpoint City South wing extension together with many other restaurants on the same floor.

Just a small 30 to 40 seater restaurant, Sakon Thai offers a smaller range of food as compared to their main branch at Jalan Wangi. No steam fish dishes and much limited main and appetizer choices due to their limited kitchen space.

The servers are Thais themselves and are very friendly and courteous. Ordering is done on the paper menu and the servers will be around to confirm on the dishes ordered. We ordered 5 dishes in all and all these were served within 10mins upon ordering! So amazed by their speed!

1. Papaya salad ($6.90) - tangy thinly sliced green papaya that really opens one appetite. The sauce was very well mixed with the right amount of sourness, sweetness and spiciness. Rating: 4.2/5

2. Pineapple rice ($8.90) - huge plate of rice that can be shared among 2 persons. It was very fragrantly fried with chicken and topped with 2 large prawns. Rating: 4/5

3. Thai style kangkong ($6.90) - kangkong stir fried with garlic, bean paste and chilli padi. A little spicy but tasted very good as well. Rating: 4.2/5

4. Honey chicken ($8.90) - deep fried marinated chicken thigh pcs with sweet honey sauce. A tad sweet but still very delicious. Rating: 4/5

5. Fried omelette ($7.90) - there was only prawn omelette but we opted for the plain version. Ordinary omelette that tasted like some chinese tze char style omelette. Rating: 3.5/5
