Sakon Thai has opened their 2nd outlet at the new Northpoint City South wing extension together with many other restaurants on the same floor.
Just a small 30 to 40 seater restaurant, Sakon Thai offers a smaller range of food as compared to their main branch at Jalan Wangi. No steam fish dishes and much limited main and appetizer choices due to their limited kitchen space.
The servers are Thais themselves and are very friendly and courteous. Ordering is done on the paper menu and the servers will be around to confirm on the dishes ordered. We ordered 5 dishes in all and all these were served within 10mins upon ordering! So amazed by their speed!
1. Papaya salad ($6.90) - tangy thinly sliced green papaya that really opens one appetite. The sauce was very well mixed with the right amount of sourness, sweetness and spiciness. Rating: 4.2/5
2. Pineapple rice ($8.90) - huge plate of rice that can be shared among 2 persons. It was very fragrantly fried with chicken and topped with 2 large prawns. Rating: 4/5
3. Thai style kangkong ($6.90) - kangkong stir fried with garlic, bean paste and chilli padi. A little spicy but tasted very good as well. Rating: 4.2/5
4. Honey chicken ($8.90) - deep fried marinated chicken thigh pcs with sweet honey sauce. A tad sweet but still very delicious. Rating: 4/5
5. Fried omelette ($7.90) - there was only prawn omelette but we opted for the plain version. Ordinary omelette that tasted like some chinese tze char style omelette. Rating: 3.5/5
The food was definitely delicious and in fact very value for money. Awesome and we love it lots and lots.
