Essen @ The Pinnacle is an atas foodcourt which comprises of 6 different food stalls and 1 drink stall. It serves restaurant quality food at very much affordable prices and without the GST and service charge as all food gotta be self-ordered and collected.

The food court comprises of both indoor and outdoor seating. There used to be the popular 2 Wings stall but unfortunately it had closed down. With just the 2 of us, we could only try 2 of the stalls, Burger Buddies and Quan Vietnamese cuisine. We ordered their highly recommended mushroom beef burger with fries ($15) and grilled pork with dry vermicelli and spring rolls ($12.90) respectively.

The mushroom beef burger was awesome! Tenderly grilled beef patty (medium well done) topped with creamy mushroom sauce and sandwiched with buttered fluffy sesame buns. The overall combination was heavenly and we loved it! The home cut fries that came along with it was delicious as well. Overall would rate it a 4.2/5 for burger. As for the grilled pork dry vermicelli, it was an average bowl of Vietnamese noodle with nothing to wow upon. Rating: 3.2/5

Besides delicious western food, Essen @ The Pinnacle offers a good gathering place for friends who can enjoy drinks at very affordable prices. We should be back to try the other stalls like The Grill Lab or at least be back for more burgers so do stay tuned for more review!

Fish & Chicks is a popular foodcourt western food stall among the young and old. Located at several neighbourhood foodcourts/hawkers, it offers a range of fish and chicken dishes accompanied with either fries, pasta or rice.

We tried its stall at Commonwealth Koufu. Ordering and payment is done at the counter. We had salted egg pasta fried fish ($10.50) and hawaiian chicken with garlic fried rice ($9.50).

Price isn't very cheap by foodcourt standard but quality of food isn't too bad. The dory fish was very crispily fried on the outside and so tender within. Delicious fried fish but the salted egg pasta could do better. The spaghetti was a little hard and cold. Would rate this dish at 3.5/5.

The hawaiian chicken is very much better. Tenderly grilled chicken topped with hawaiian pizza toppings. Yummilicious! The garlic fried rice was very fragrant as well. Rating: 3.9/5

One thing to note is the long waiting time for food. We had to wait for about 20mins before our buzzer rang. Thus, not for really hungry customers who cannot wait. Would be good if they can speed up on their food preparation time.

In continuation of our JEM foodcourt exploration, we returned to Cookhouse to try out the western food stall as promised in our foodcourt exploration review 2 weeks ago. Hungry Jack is the only western food stall located beside the yong tau foo stall.

The posters attracted many people to their stall. We ordered their 2 most popular dishes: Fish aglio oglio set and chicken carbonara

The fish set comes with one soup, side salad and nacho cheese fries. The fish cutlet was fried to the right crispiness outside. Every cut and bite into it so tender as well. It comes with either chilli crab sauce or salted egg sauce.

We opted for the salted egg version and what a great combination it was!  The soup and salad was so so but the nacho cheese fries tasted good and would be better if the fries are crispy.

The chicken carbonara was not too bad either. Tenderly grilled chicken topped with black pepper sauce and accompanied with spaghetti carbonara. Both pastas are cooked just right. We love the Aglio oglio spaghetti better.
