Siam Kitchen is a Halal Thai restaurant managed by Creative Eateries. With several branches in Singapore, it offers a wide range of traditional Thai food with a modern setting.

With promotion at Eatigo, Siam Kitchen is offering 30% discount off ala carte menus at several outlets including the one at Lot One. The restaurant space isn't big but was bright and clean. We ordered 3 of their popular recommended dishes as follow:

1. Morning glory with sambal ($8.90) - generous bunch of kangkong fried with sambal. This dish tasted flat and wasn't fragrant. Rating: 3/5
Morning glory with sambal - Siam Kitchen at Lot One - Paulin's Munchies

2. Green curry chicken ($10.90) - green curry gravy was watery but still had the green curry taste. Chicken breast meat was used and was tough. Rating: 2.8/5

3. Hotplate tofu with minced chicken ($10.90) - the hotplate tofu was dry and was very disappointed that the chef has forgotten to put in the minced chicken as per menu. There was no standard food preparation. Rating: 3/5

We had intended to try their desserts but decided to forgo and try Latino Street Churros at the basement instead. Latino Churros is offering chendol soft serve as one of their recommended desserts.
Latino Streats Churros at Lot One - Paulin's Munchies

The soft serve deserves thumbs up with the delicious gula melaka and grated coconut on the top. Provides a nostalgic 7-11 soft serve feel. This soft serve deserves a thumb up at $4.90 per cup.

Our first food exploration on the east of SG. We realized that we were actually missing lots of delicious food and fun!

We started off at marine parade food center. The food center houses lots of delicious food, with many stalls winning awards. Among these stalls are four seasons cendol ($2) and katong chicken curry puff ($1.30). The cendol's shaved ice looks course but when mixed together, it melted so nicely with the coconut and gula melaka. The coconut taste was thick and flavourful and with the fresh ingredients, it was an awesome dessert for a hot sunny afternoon. Rating: 4/5

The curry puff was crispy on the outside with sumptuous chicken potato filling on the inside. This was the kind of traditional puffs that once we were a kid would look for. Rating: 4/5

From traditional food center to modern foodcourt, we tried Chinatown's tutu cake (or TuTu Kueh) ($3 for 5) at food republic parkway parade. The filling was delicious but skin tad dry and hard. Rating: 3.5/5

The Hokkaido baked cheese tarts ($2.60) however is a must try. The tart crust is slightly more buttery than that of ibake's and filling is comparably rich. We could go for more than 2 tarts per pax for this. 3 ways of eating it: hot, warm, cold for the different cheese constituency. Different flavours like durian and chocolate are available too. Rating: 4/5
We will be back to explore more food around the area, so do stay tuned!

Om Nom is the gem taste of Thai Street food and with its years of culinary experience, it aims to give its customer the best taste of Thailand at an affordable price. Situated on level 2 of The Central Clarke Quay, one could enjoy the delicious food while enjoying the night scenary of Singapore River.

The restaurant is furnished with woody furniture, giving it a modern look yet traditional feel. We ordered 4 dishes in all and a dessert. Water is chargeable at 50cents per cup. Below is what we have:

1. Omelette vegetable ($7.80) - fluffy egg omelette with lots of vegetables in it. Retaining the fried taste, it didn't feel very oily. Rating: 4/5

2. Green mango salad ($6.80) - shredded thai green mangoes tossed in tangy sauce. A very appetizing dish to start with. Rating: 3.8/5

3. Chicken with cashew nuts ($10.80) - slices of fried chicken tossed in sweet spicy sauce with capsicums and cashew nuts. The dish was very tasty but tad oily. Rating: 3.9/5

4. Baby kailan with salted fish ($8.80) - would have expect this dish to be rather salty but surprisingly turned out to be one of the best dishes. Not a bit salty and goes very well with rice. Rating: 4.2/5

5. Red ruby ($5.80) - a very generous portion of crunchy water chestnut in coconut milk. The chestnut was very fresh but had a strong rose syrup taste that overwhelm the actual coconut taste. Rating: 3.5/5

No service charge and GST is chargeable to this restaurant and with its lovely ambience and delicious food, it is worthwhile to pay this restaurant a visit at Central.

Jack's Place has always been a very popular restaurant among families and friends. With their first branch at Ang Mo Kio opened in 1979, the restaurant has drawn many to it whenever western food is considered.

This evening we were at their 4th oldest branch at West Coast Recreation Center to savour the lovely western dishes. Jack's Place is currently having a All Time's American Favorite menu promotion. We ordered the grilled cajun chicken set with waldorf salad. At $15.80 per set, one can order a waldorf salad at $5.60 and we topped up extra $2.30 to change to lobster bisque soup.

We still love their free garlic bread accompanying it. So tasty, crunchy on the outside and soft on the interior.

The lobster bisque soup still tasted the same all these years. Creamy with the bisque taste. (Rating: 3.8/5) Waldorf salad tasted very healthy. Fresh iceberg lettuce with walnuts and raisins and cut apples topped with yoghurt dressing and grilled chicken thigh. Could have been better with tastier sauces. (Rating: 3.2/5)

The grilled cajun chicken is drizzled with apple cider cream sauce, accompanied with mash potatoes and poached vegetables. Chicken was tenderly grilled and overall a decent dish to order. (Rating: 3.8/5) I prefered the other bbq chicken with pineapple better. Another tenderly grilled chicken thigh meat with waffle fries and poached vegetables. The waffle fries is a must eat. Crispily delicious! At $14.80 for ala carte, no wonder it's an all time favourite dish. (Rating: 4.2/5)

The set meal comes with dessert and drink. Dessert was brownie. Looks small and unappetizing but turns out to be rich and delicious.

Goes well with a good cup of cuppa! Jack's Place is no doubt a family restaurant worth visiting and we simply love the West Coast Recreation outlet for its quiet and soothing ambience.

Happy Oven is an old school confectionary shop located at Beo Crescent near Havelock Road. The shop is just opposite the Beo Crescent market and hawker center which is currently closed for upgrading until Aug'17.

Happy Oven focuses mainly on cakes, with their pandan kaya cake being one of their Top 5 items. Others include pandan chiffon cake, banana cake, eclairs, apple tarts, swissrolls etc. Their bread variety also belongs to the old school kind, like the 4pcs red bean buns etc.

We focused on their cakes and so far tried their banana cake ($3), apple tarts ($0.90), pandan kaya cake ($1.80), cream puffs ($1) and eclairs ($1).

The pandan kaya cake so far has been one of the best.

With the soft fluffy sponge and rich coconut pandan layer, it definitely serves a good dessert after meal. We bought their pandan chiffon cake for breakfast this morning.
pandan kaya cake - Paulin's Munchies - Happy Oven at Beo Crescent -

The cake's texture was soft, a little rough but very fluffy and bouncy. Taste wise was good but does not seem to be made of 100% pure pandan leaves. It tasted like there was some pandan extract. Priced at $5.80, the cake was value for money

Located on level 4 of JCube, Isuramuya is another Halal certified restaurant popular among the Malays serving japanese food. The restaurant offers sashimi dishes, nigiris, dons, ramens, appetizers and desserts. Quite an extensive range for a small restaurant with about 25 - 30 seaters.

The servers in the restaurant werw rather young. Most of them looking like students. Ordering was done through the servers. We went for their safe dishes like don and appetizers. We ordered the following:

1. Yakiniku don ($9.80) - generous portion of thinly sliced beef fried with onions on top of rice. The don could have tasted slightly better with more sauce. Rating: 3.5/5

2. Chicken teriyaki soba salad ($10.80) - fresh salad vegetables accompanied with a bundle of soba and a small chicken fillet. The sesame sauce used was the ready made Kewpie sauce. A very safe dish. Rating: 3.5/5

3. Yuzu gyoza ($6) - yes.. Its yuzu. The korean popular fruit. The filling tasted real weird with yuzu. We had to ask for mayo to mask out the taste. Rating: 2.8/5

4. Tori kuwayaki ($6) - this is a must order dish at the restaurant. Crispy and juicy chicken pcs stir fried with sweet sauce. Tasted so good and could finish all 5 pcs with rice. Yummy! Rating: 4.2/5

The reviews of this restaurant were mixed and we had doubts trying it at first. But after tasting the food, we found that the food wasn't too bad. We should be back again to try their sushis and sashimi.
