Hong Lim Complex has always been a very popular food center among the working crowd at Chinatown. The food complex is known for the curry chicken noodles and many many other food.
The center was crowded and so packed with people. Lots of stalls to choose from and customers are so spoilt with choices. Our lunchies went to queue for 2 very popular stalls: Tuck Kee Ipoh Sah Horfun and Ji Ji Wanton Noodle.
Tuck Kee Ipoh Horfun sells 4 types of horfun in all, with the crayfish horfun being the most popular. Priced at $8 per plate, the silky smooth horfun is served with 1 crayfish and generous portion of prawns. The seafood was fresh and with the portion provided, it is quite worth the price. The abalone mushroom horfun is priced at $5 per plate. The gravy tasted plain and would be better with the chilli. Rating: 3.5/5
Besides wanton noodles, Ji Ji offers dumpling noodles, curry chicken noodles, braised chicken noodles, ipoh horfun etc. The portion was generous as well and we love the noodles. It is the thicker yellow noodles free of ghee taste. Priced at $4 for basic bowl, the wantons and dumplings are so full in texture with lots of meat filling. The char siew slices were fresh and the sauce in the noodles were superb in taste. This stall is definitely worth the queue and wait. Curry chicken noodle was tasty and flavourful. Chicken pcs were tender and with every noodle mouthful soaking up the gravy. This stall is definitely worth the wait and queue for. Rating: 4/5
There are so many choices to choose from and we will be back to give other stalls a try.
