This is a repeated review of this restaurant. We are here for dinner today instead of dim sum lunch. Since months ago, they have introduced quite a no. of main dishes. We tried 2 of their newer dishes today: crispy noodle with braised vegetables and tossed nissin noodle with char siew.

Crispy noodle with braised vegetables - a little like tze char style. The crispy noodles are drizzled with lots of vegetables in thick sauce. The vegetables include black fungus, white fungus, mushrooms, carrot and kailan. A very healthy dish. Rating: 3.5/5
Paulin's Munchies - Legendary Hong Kong at Jurong Point - Crispy noodle with braised vegetables

Tossed nissin noodle with char siew - good for those who don't like the ghee taste of the yellow wanton noodles. The char siew was thick and juicy and goes well with the black sauce. Rating: 3.8/5
Paulin's Munchies - Legendary Hong Kong at Jurong Point - Tossed nissin noodle with char siew

Paulin's Munchies - Legendary Hong Kong at Jurong Point - Char siew and roasted meat

The other 2 dishes are the usual twin combo and shrimp dumpling soup. The char siew and roasted meat are so tender and delicious as usual. No porky taste and with the sauce, tasted so good. The juicy shrimp dumpling soup is another of their must order dishes. Rating: 3.8/5

The food quality at Legendary Hong Kong has improved as compared previously, thus why not give this restaurant a visit if you are craving for some dim sum or HK dishes?

We are back at JEM this afternoon to celebrate my father-in-law's and niece's birthday at Spageddies. Spageddies Italian Kitchen was concepted from Texas USA in 1992.

With aim to combine both modern and traditional italian cuisine, the restaurant has earned many western food lovers in SG.

The ambience was cosy, with very friendly staff as well. Here's what we ordered:

1. Roto Cacciatore - baked half tender chicken with tomato based pasta. The chicken was juicy and tender and tasted delicious with the melted cheese on the top. Pasta was cooked to the right texture with the tangy tomato base. Rating: 3.8/5
Paulin's Munchies - Spageddies Italian Kitchen at JEM - Roto Cacciatore

2. Pork Chop - 2 slabs of grilled marinated pork chop with tomato zucchini and baked potatos as side. The pork chop was overly done, thus texture was tough. Could have done better. Rating: 3.2/5
Paulin's Munchies - Spageddies Italian Kitchen at JEM - Pork Chop

3. Seabass fish - large pc of baked seabass with chopped fried garlic on the top. The seabass is cooked in champagne and tasted real fresh and sweet. The dish is accompanied with pasta cooked with vegetables. Rating: 4/5
Paulin's Munchies - Spageddies Italian Kitchen at JEM - Seabass fish

4. Chicken scallop - creamy lemon butter sauce with spaghetti and grilled slices of chicken breast. The lemon butter sauce tasted a little flat and felt quite full after eating a few mouths. Tad too creamy for my liking. Rating: 3.5/5
Paulin's Munchies - Spageddies Italian Kitchen at JEM - Chicken scallop

5. Kids fish and chips - one portion of fried fish fillet and chips. The fish was crispily fried with thick batter and the kids simply love it. The fries tasted so good and could see this is the dish for children. Rating: 4/5
Paulin's Munchies - Spageddies Italian Kitchen at JEM - Kids fish and chips

6. Pirate Andy Pasta - seafood with spaghetti fried in aglio oglio style. A simple yet deliciously done dish. Rating: 3.8/5
Paulin's Munchies - Spageddies Italian Kitchen at JEM - Pirate Andy Pasta

7. Fish and chicken combo - deep fried fish and breaded chicken with fries and salad. The chicken was tough as the fillet was chicken breast. Definitely a portion good for guys as it was huge!! Rating: 3.2/5
Paulin's Munchies - Spageddies Italian Kitchen at JEM - Fish and chicken combo

8. Primo combo - an appetizer dish with cheese sticks, fried calamari, soft shell crab. The ingredients were fresh and it had a strong oil taste. Was too greasy for our liking. Rating: 3/5
Paulin's Munchies - Spageddies Italian Kitchen at JEM - Primo combo
Overall food portion is huge and could be shared for small eaters. Guess the food had been modernised to a more western taste. Would prefer the more authentic taste for pastas.

Nothing beats a hot piping stew on cold rainy evening. It is Eat with your Family Day today and we were entitled for early dismissal this evening from office. Having to leave office early, we decided to queue for Seoul Yummy at JEM.

The restaurant queue was perpetually long, regardless of the time. We were there at 615pm and there was already a long queue. Fortunately we didn't have to wait very long for our turn.

We ordered their combo set at $48.90++. Each combo set comes with 1 main stew, 1 side dish and dessert. We had the following combo:

1. Andong Jjimdak - Andong-jjimdak is a variety of jjim, which originated in the city of Andong, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province and is made with chicken, various vegetables marinated in a ganjang based sauce. The name literally means "steamed chicken of Andong". The jjimdak gravy  at Seoul Yummy is more watery as compared to Andong Zzimdak at Cityhall. The chicken pcs are slightly tougher and not as tasty and fulfulling. Prefered the dish at Zzimdak. The only plus point was this dish comes with generous portion of octopus. Rating: 3.2/5
Paulin's Munchies - Seoul Yummy at JEM - Andong Jjimdak

2. Kimchi pancake - thinly fried pancake made of kimchi and onions. Tasted rather salty with the sauce. Was rather disappointing. Rating: 3/2
Paulin's Munchies - Seoul Yummy at JEM - Kimchi pancake

3. Sweet Hulk - korean bingsu with redbean and green tea ice cream. The dessert was the most fulfilling dish of all. The red bean paste wasn't too sweet and makes a great combination with the green tea ice cream. The shaved ice was a little course though. Rating: 3.8/5
Paulin's Munchies - Seoul Yummy at JEM - Sweet Hulk

Probably we should have gone for their army stew again or other ala carte dishes. Will give this restaurant another go for their other dishes at their other branches whereby the queue isn't so long.

We stumbled upon this coffee shop just opposite Phoon Huat at Clementi. We were at Phoon Huat to purchase baking ingredients during dinner time. There are less than 6 stalls in the coffee shop, with the biggest stall owned by western food stall named Colin's.

Situated right in the middle of the coffee shop, Bangkok J.N Food is a small stall owned by a Thai couple. There are quite a wide variety of dishes to choose from the menu and prices are reasonably cheap. We ordered our favourite food:

1. Green curry chicken - curry gravy was thick and coconutty. There were vegetables in the green curry other than chicken and feels like chinese curry vegetables. Rating: 3.5/5
Paulin's Munchies - Bangkok J.N Thai Food at Food Loft at 431 - Green curry chicken

2. Sweet and sour fish slices - not the usual sauce. The sauce was thick and had a slight milky taste. Overall very unique but we still preferred the usual sweet and sour fish slices. Rating: 3.2/5
Paulin's Munchies - Bangkok J.N Thai Food at Food Loft at 431 - Sweet and sour fish slices

3. Mixed vegetables - simple mixed vegetables cooked with oyster sauce. The dish was fragrantly fried. Serves as a simple yet delicious vegetable dish. Rating: 3.8/5

Portion was small but reasonable for its price. Service was prompt and customers are served with a box of tissue for cleaning after meal. Not bad for a coffee shop!

DaeJon House may not be new to some as this restaurant has been opened since Jan 2017 and has been reviewed by many bloggers.

There were so many positive reviews of this restaurant thus we decided to give it a try as well since we were craving for some good Korean food.

DaeJon House is located in Havelock II building. The building is relatively new and is very deserted with very few tenants. The restaurant is located right at the back of level 1 near the restrooms.

The exterior of the restaurant looks like a traditional Korean home and the restaurant was blasted with nice Korean songs. We sat there the entrance and took a look at the menu. The menu was placed on clipboards and dishes include some of their usual dishes like army stew, fried chicken, seafood pancakes etc.

We went for their large beef army stew priced at $34.90 and chicken tenders as a side dish for $9. The army stew portion was huge with lots of baked beans, sausages, leeks, kimchi, crabsticks, dumplings, spam, tteokboki, instant noodles, tofu, onions, sliced beef and lastly garnished with grated cheese.

The broth was thick unlike some other restaurant's broth. When boiled, the army stew taste derseved our 4 thumbs up! Spicy, tasty and shiok!

There was free hard boil eggs every table and it could be added to the army stew.

The chicken tenders look ordinary but every bite was so delicious that we couldn't stop eating. The skin was crunchy and well marinated in taste. With their special dipping sauce, it serves an excellent side dish with beer.

Overall, we really enjoyed the food and strongly recommend this restaurant to Korean food lovers.

Qi Ji's signature food include Handmade Popiah and Nasi Lemak. They are certified Halal thus becoming a very popular eating joint among the Muslims who enjoy Nasi Lemak.

We were at their Star Vista outlet this afternoon for lunch. We went for their snacks instead of main meal as we wanted a light lunch at 2pm. We ordered the following snacks:

1. Chee cheong fun - the portion was little. The rice flour roll was soft and the sweet sauce and chilli accompanying it was delicious. It made a great SG snack. Rating: 3.8/5

2. Soon kueh - it was not the best we had as the skin was rather thick. Fortunately the sauce, chilli and fried shallots enhanced the overall taste. Rating: 3.2/5

Teppanyaki hamburg keisuke is the latest concept by Chef Keisuke Takeda. Similar to their tendon concept, there are only 2 items on the menu: the normal hamburg set or the triple cheese hamburg set.

Each set comes with free flow of salad, eggs, rice and miso soup. The hamburg set is priced at $18.80. It consist of a 150g good quality minced and juicy beef patty.
Paulin's Munchies - Teppanyaki Hamburg Nihonbashi Keisuke Bettei at Tanjong Pagar - Hamburg set

There are sides like breaded prawn and bean sprouts. The hamburg patty could be eaten with 4 different sauces, with the teriyaki mayo sauce being most popular. The triple cheese set was made up of patty with 3 different kinds of cheese inside.
Paulin's Munchies - Teppanyaki Hamburg Nihonbashi Keisuke Bettei at Tanjong Pagar - Triple Cheese Hamburg set

The patty is bigger at 180g and priced at $20.80. Mozerella, cheddar and parmesan. Mmm.... The cheese oozing out from the delicious patty after being cut. It wasn't too cheesy so one can still stomach quite a bit of it without feeling sick.
Paulin's Munchies - Teppanyaki Hamburg Nihonbashi Keisuke Bettei at Tanjong Pagar - Hamburg set

The salad bar was cool, with more than 15 different varieties of vegetables, noodles and fruits. All of them so fresh and delicious with the different salad dressing.
Paulin's Munchies - Teppanyaki Hamburg Nihonbashi Keisuke Bettei at Tanjong Pagar

The best we like was the ginger miso dressing as the salad tasted like chicken rice. At the egg station, one could order any types of eggs. From scrambled, tamago to hard boiled eggs. Each dish was done with absolute skill. Awesome!
Paulin's Munchies - Teppanyaki Hamburg Nihonbashi Keisuke Bettei at Tanjong Pagar - Tamago

The coffee jelly dessert is definitely a must try dish after the meal. The jelly was made with real coffee mixture and goes so well with the cream.

Each set is subjected to 10% gst and service charge and the restaurant accepts only cash. With the free flow of sides, it is definitely a worth while restuarant to visit for a good hamburg set.

Heavenly Divine is a newly opened cafe at Boat Quay offering western food, drinks and desserts. Being new, it joined the Groupon, now known as Fave, to attract customers with their half price promo. At $30, you can order $60 worth of food and drinks with no gst and service charge.

Catching this great offer, we went to the cafe for dinner this evening. We chose their outdoor seats since the weather was fine to enjoy the cool river breeze.

The cafe has indoor seatings as well. There aren't too many to choices to choose from, but being more popular for their pastas, we decided to give them a try. We ordered the following items:

1. Mesclum salad - fresh mixed of vegetables with baby spinach tossed in japanese sesame sauce. It was refreshing and the amount of sauce was just right. Rating: 4/5
Paulin's Munchies - Heavenly Divine at Boat Quay - Mesclum salad

2. Pesto pasta with chicken - awesomely cooked spaghetti in pesto sauce. The texture of the noodles were just right and the pesto seasoning was fragrant. The rosemary grilled chicken fillet deserves two thumbs up. So tender and heavenly delicious. Rating: 4.5/5
Paulin's Munchies - Heavenly Divine at Boat Quay - Pesto pasta with chicken

3. Chicken baked rice - we expected the usual chicken chunks with lots of melted mozerella cheese on the top but we were wrong. There was a generous portion of crispily oven baked chicken fillet on top of cheesy garlic rice. The chicken was very well seasoned and the garlic rice fragrant as well. There wasn't too much melted cheese, thus not too rich. Rating: 4/5
Paulin's Munchies - Heavenly Divine at Boat Quay - Chicken baked rice

4. Rustic apple puff - apple crumble puff pastry topped with home made vanilla ice cream. The warmed apple puff melted the ice cream and when eaten together, the taste was heavenly. Mmm... Rating: 4.2/5

Our 2nd review on Itacho Sushi after quite some time... It has been months since we last ate the food from Itacho and the restaurant has introduced new dishes.

We were at their JCube branch this evening for dinner and had the following items on our dinner list:

1. Assorted salmon sushi - this includes roasted soy sauce salmon skin with fish caviar, salmon and skin, roasted salmon with wasabi mayo and cod mayo. The sushi were very fresh and could feel the salmon melting in our mouth. They were having special discounts and each pc was 60 - 90 cents. Rating: 4/5
