Established since 1947, Kazokutei is one of Osaka's most well known brands of udon restaurant. The restaurant aim to provide high quality handmade udon in healthy cooking methods.
Besides their well known udon, the restaurant also serves other western dishes like omu rice sets and baked rice. Kevin ordered their pork sukiyaki rice set while I had the chicken cutlet toji kazokutei udon. The pork sukiyaki rice set is accompanied with a small side salad and shredded ginger. The sukiyaki was served in hotpot with quite a generous portion of thinly sliced tender pork stripes, shredded cabbages, mushrooms and tofu. The soup base was tasty and indeed goes well with rice. Rating: 3.5/5
The udon, on the other hand, was a little disappointing. Expected springy smooth udon but it was a little mushy and soft. The udon became soggy after it was left in the soup for some time. Rating: 3/5
As a side dish, we had caesar salad. Was a simple and ordinary salad dish with croutons and bacon pcs. Rating: 3/5
We personally would not recommend Kazokutei for udon as there are better udon dishes to be offered in other japanese restaurants. Contradictly, they are better in their non udon dishes.
