Sakana is a japanese term referring to food eaten as an accompaniment to alcohol as originated from the word saka (sakae) and na (food). This ichiban boshi branch at Jurong Point offers a wide variety of fresh sashimi cut slices and alcoholic drinks to choose from.
There were a large crowd at 530pm on a public holiday but fortunately the restaurant was big enough to cater for the large no. of people. Service was prompt even with the crowd.
We ordered the following:
1. Assorted sushis - with the tamago mentai sushi roll being the best. Thick fluffy tamago with rice. So yummy and delicious. Rating: 3.8/5
2. Yasai salad - generous portion of fresh vegetables with japanese sesame and shoyu dressing. Every crunch of freshness could be heard with every bite. Rating: 4/5
3. Chicken katsu toji - large chicken cutlet on hot claypot with eggs and onions. The gravy was a tad salty, thus would be better with rice. Rating: 3.5/5
4. Cha soba - the portion was generous but not the best soba. The soba noodles had a floury taste upon eating and was a little tough. The soba sauce was nice though with enough taste. Rating: 3.2/5
We were overall pleased with their service and ambience. For alcohol drinks and sashimi lovers, this sakana branch could be considered.
