The Original Boat Noodle is Singapore's first Thai Halal boat noodle restaurant. Located on the 2nd floor of the bustling shopping mall, this restaurant serves Halal Thai street food at very affordable price. These bite size noodle bowls are great for snack or full meal as you are order as many bowls as you want.

There are 4 different flavors, with rice noodles or springy noodles with beef/chicken as options. Each petite bowl is priced at $1.50 each. We have the original Pathumthani, which is soy sauce broth made with 19 herbs and 5 spice powder. There is also the Ayutthaya, which is creamier and spicier. The creamy Tom Yum is good and popular among the customers whereby the sweet, sour and spiciness of each bowl brings a great kick. The last is the kway chap which is super child friendly with the sweet tasting broth. All the boat noodle bowls are rated at 4/5 with the Ayutthaya tasting the best.

Located at the 3rd floor of Novena Square Velocity, this bustling family restaurant is packed with customers during meal times. Besides walk-in customers, many tables are under reservation accompanied with food delivery.

We were welcomed by friendly staff who showed us to our table. The entire restaurant is renovated with wooden floor and furnitures, giving the typical Thai ambience. We ordered 3 mains and 1 side for dinner this evening. Food was promptly served within 5mins of ordering.

1. Thai prawn cake fritter ($3.90 per pc) - min ordering of 2pcs, this delicious lightly fried breaded prawn fritter was so well done. It is not too overly fried and thus retaining the freshness of the juicy prawn meat. Rating: 4.2/5

Pratunam by Soi Thai Soi Nice is a new express joint opened at the Westgate basement near Hao Excellence supermarket. It took over Thai Bowl previously. Pratunam offers several affordable Thai street food at very reasonable prices, with choices like Khao Tom Haeng (dry rice porridge) and Tom Yum Mama.

There wasn't much crowd on a weekday evening. Ordering is self-service at the counter and customers are expected to self-collect their food upon queue no called. We ordered 2 of their popular noodle mains and 2 sides:

1. Tom yum mama ($10) - absolutely delicious thick tomyum soup with generous ingredients. The noodles are cooked to the right al dente and it resemble a little like Korean Budae jigae with cabbage, spam, sausage, homemade meatballs as ingredients. I really love their meatballs. So soft, chewy and delicious. A must order dish. Rating: 4.2/5

Previously located at Middle Road, Aroy Dee Thai Kitchen has shifted to a new location at Bencoolen Street opposite Fortune Center. Previously we did a rather good review of the restaurant and with the new shift of location, we were hopeful that the food standard maintains.

We ordered 2 similar dishes, stir fried fish slices with three taste sauce ($10) and pineapple rice ($7.90). The three taste sauce was less spicy as compared previously and the fish slices were not all coated evenly with the sauce. The fishes tasted quite fishy today as well. Rating: 3.5/5.

As for the pineapple rice, it still tasted average and not the best that we had. Rating: 3.5/5

The 2 other dishes that were different are stir fried chicken with cashew nuts ($13) and baby kailan with straw mushrooms ($10). We love the chicken dish as it was very fragrantly fried with cashew nuts. Deserves 2 thumbs up and would have gone well with a bowl of white rice. Rating: 4.2/5

The vegetable dish was very well fried as well, full of garlic aroma and still maintaining its crunchiness. Rating: 4/5

Just 3 yrs ago, there was no service charge and GST but today, all dishes are subjected to GST and service charge. Portion remains huge over the yrs. For a decent Thai food in town area, Aroy Dee could definitely be considered and it's also very popular among the NAFA students.

SaveurThai has taken over Bangkok J.N Thai food which I previously reviewed. SaveurThai is a franchise under the Collin's group and the stall was tendered by just 2 employees, 1 as server and cashier and the other being the main chef. Ordering is done at the cashier and a food buzzer will be presented for food collection thereafter.

Cooking is done quite promptly. Food is ready about 10 mins after ordering. We ordered 3 dishes for dinner.

1. Mango salad ($6) - thinly and freshly sliced green mangoes tossed in fish and sweet sauce and topped with crushed nuts and cashew nuts. One of the better mango salad that I have tasted so far. Rating: 4/5

2. Thai cashew nut chicken ($8) - generous portion of chicken pieces stir fried with onions, bell peppers, cashew nuts and homemade sauce. Overall combination was good and goes very well with plain rice. Rating: 4/5

3. Seafood pineapple rice ($6.80) - generous amount of rice and could be easily shared among 2 people. The ingredients were fresh and crunchy. In terms of taste, it might not be the best but it's definitely above average as compared to others. Rating: 3.6/5

10mins walk from Exit D of Tanjong Pagar MRT, Angkor Wat is a hidden gem for authentic Thai food. The boss of the restaurant is a young hunky chap by the name of Joe. We were late for our Eatigo reservation and he was kind enough to counter offer the next available timing discount to us.

All ala-carte food menu is entitled for 30% discount for 7pm reservation. Most of the dishes are priced at $6 to $6.90. We ordered 4 of their recommended dishes:

1. Crispy pork belly rice with egg ($6.90) - crispy Thai pork belly accompanied with sunny side up egg and rice. The pork belly wasn't too fatty and was not porky. Enjoyed it with their special chilli dip. Rating: 4/5

2. Tom yum mama ($6.90) - this is a highly recommended dish for tom yum soup lovers. Maggi mee in special tom yum stock which was thick, sour and spicy. Simply love the combination and it was generously cooked with seafood, mushrooms and vegetables. Really 1 of the best tom yum eaten! Rating: 4.4/5

3. Tofu Tod ($6) - crispy fried tofu pieces with peanut sauce. Nothing too fantastic about this dish. Wish the tofu texture could be softer and smoother. Rating: 3.8/5

4. Cashew chicken ($6) - very fragrantly fried chicken strips with spring onions and bell peppers in the dark sauce. It was missing the cashew nuts unfortunately due to a new chef in replacement of the actual chef. But taste wise was excellent. Rating: 4.1/5

The restaurant has no service charge and GST. Would highly recommend this restaurant for lunch or dinner given the wonderful food and reasonable price even without the discount. We will be back again to try the rest of the dishes.

Opened by the same folks from Noodle Cafe at Golden Mile, Gu Thai Boat Noodle Cafe offers other Thai dishes other than the all popular Thai boat noodles.

The branch at Pomo mall offers a 1 mouthful boat noodle but this branch at Marina Square only offers the standard size dishes.

We were served by a friendly waitress but the cafe seemed very shorthanded. Only 2 servers outside and 2 chefs in the kitchen.

The servers were busy running around and the customer demand way surpassed the supply of the kitchen. We ordered 4 dishes and waited for a long time before food was served.

1. Stir fried kangkong ($8) - portion was small but surprisingly tasty. Not spicy despite the chilli padi. Rating: 3.8/5

2. Fried omelette ($10) - a little pricey for the size of the omelette but very well done. It was fluffy and yet not too oily. Goes well with the thai chilli sauce. Rating: 4/5

3. Stir fried chicken with cashew nuts ($15) - the sauce was good but the chicken slices were overly fried. Did not like the tough meat. Rating: 3/5

4. Beef boat noodle ($7.50) - the rice noodle was soft and delicious and soup base was rich in beef broth. You must like the spice taste in order to like the dish. Rating: 3.8/5

Have not tried their other dishes but it would be some time before we decide to visit the cafe again given so many other better Thai restaurants around.

v Go Ang Pratunam is an awarded Michelin 1-star chicken rice from Bangkok at Pratunam. With its 1st branch in Singapore, its located at the all popular neighbourhood Serangoon Nex which is a mall so known for food. The restaurant is just right beside the Japanese food street.

The interior of the restaurant was decorated with pink signboards and neon lights. The furnitures are made of wood. The service is very swift and bustling. We ordered their 4 dishes:

1. Signature braised pork ($8) - deliciously braised tender pork that almost melt in your mouth at every bite. It was surprisingly not fatty and do not have the strong porky taste. It goes extremely well with the special chilli sauce. Rating: 4/5

2. Chicken rice ($4.50) - we ordered their single portion chicken rice. Tender soft breast meat on qq fragrant rice. The rice is less oily than the usual Hainanese ones but did not compromise on the taste. However, we still preferred the stronger tasting Hainsnese chicken rice. Rating: 3.8/5

3. Fried tofu with thai sweet chilli sauce ($8) - huge portion of fried beancurd cubes topped with crushed peanut and chilli flakes. Simply love the combination. Rating: 4/5
