Ming Kitchen at Clementi central has been taken over by a new tze char stall, Kang Lin Kitchen (康林小厨).

The menu variety is great and offers many more versions of meat dishes with the same cooking style. Example is their Mongolian ribs which can be done with chicken for non pork eaters.

We ordered 3 mains and a plate of rice to share.

1. Fried kailan ($8) - stir fried baby kailan with garlic. A little oily but very tasty indeed. Rating: 3.8/5

Soi Thai Kitchen is newly located on the 4th floor of Jcube. The small restaurant is tucked away at a cosy corner beside the cinema.

With about 20 to 30 seater area, this authentic Thai restaurant is managed by pure Thais and the chefs in the kitchen has more than 30yrs of experience.

We tried 3 of their highly recommended dishes.
Soi Thai Kitchen at Jcube - Paulin's Munchies

1. Beef pranaeng ($11) - supposedly stewed beef in thick curry sauce. The sauce is awesome but the beef slices or chunks were extremely tough. It was rather hard to chew. We should have gone for their chicken pranaeng instead as chicken meat should be more tender. Rating: 3.4/5

2. Phad thai ($6) - fragrantly fried flat noodles with seafood. The ingredients were little and the noodles taste was strong. Was a little disappointed with the dish. Rating: 3/5

3. Papaya salad ($6) - thinly shredded green papaya tossed in fish sauce and nuts. The salad was lacking the tanginess and was salty. Rating: 3/5

8Eight Korean BBQ started its first franchise at The Central and was very well received with many family and friends for get togethers. We were at their 2nd branch today for a Valentine's Day meal with our buddies.

Being meat lovers, we opted for their 4 flavor pork belly set ($58).
4 flavor pork belly set - 8Eight Korean BBQ at Shaw Center Orchard - Paulin's Munchies

Each set comes with an army stew and free flow of kimchi and sprouts. There are 8 flavors of meat to choose from. We opted for lightly flavored garlic, red pepper paste, wine and khalbi. The meats are cooked by their friendly staff to the right texture which melted in our mouth.
Army Stew - 8Eight Korean BBQ at Shaw Center Orchard - Paulin's Munchies

The pork belly is from a rare pig called Mangalitza of Hungarian origin. No porky smell and taste at all. Simply love it.

The army stew was delicious with lots of sausages, kimchi, cheese, noodles. Simply awesome.
Army Stew - 8Eight Korean BBQ at Shaw Center Orchard - Paulin's Munchies

Besides the pork belly, we ordered 200g of angus beef ($48) which comes with onion and mushrooms. The angus beef is a little chewy and we prefered the pork.

The seafood pancake ($28) was awesome with its dip. Thick crispily fried pancake with loads of seafood. The kimchi and sprouts on hotplate was simply awesome!

The Gogi, a small and cosy authentic Korean restaurant, is located on the 3rd floor of Alexandra Central Mall just beside Park Alexandra Hotel.

The restaurant is very well known for its bbq meats during dinner and other dishes like army stew which are good for sharing.

We love the free sides that comes with the mains.
The Gogi at Alexandra Central Mall - Paulin's Munchies

There is a total of 6 sides in all, with kimchi and fishcake being our favorite. Sides are free flow, so feel free to ask for more whenever required.

We ordered from their lunch menu which ranges from $12 - $17. Pork stew, kimchi jigae, tofu stew, ginseng chicken, seafood stew and chicken ramen.
Pork Rib Stew - The Gogi at Alexandra Central Mall - Paulin's Munchies
Chicken Ramen - The Gogi at Alexandra Central Mall - Paulin's Munchies
Seafood Stew - The Gogi at Alexandra Central Mall - Paulin's Munchies
Ginseng Chicken - The Gogi at Alexandra Central Mall - Paulin's Munchies
Kimchi Jigae - The Gogi at Alexandra Central Mall - Paulin's Munchies

Among all, the tofu stew is the most worth it. At $14, the stew was filled with tofu snd seafood. Simply awesome. Nothing special with the seafood stew and kimchi jigae. The ginseng chicken was light with very little ginseng taste. But portion is huge for the chicken. The rest of the stews are much smaller in portion.

For authencity, would give the thumbs up. In terms of taste, there are others that can be comparable as well. Maybe the dinner menu will be more well liked with bbq meat options. Nevertheless, the Gogi is still good for an authentic korean meal.
