Fook Kin, a collaboration between Class 95 DJs The Muttons, Roast Paradise and Fat Boys offers delicious Cantonese roast meat delicacies deserving 2 thumbs up, especially for their caramelized char siew. The restaurant is decorated with pink neon lightings and marble top tables. A nostalgic yet modern HK feel restaurant located along the popular Killiney Road.
Roasted Treasures Noodle - Fook Kin

Fortunately we made a reservation via Chope to secure a table as the restaurant was very crowded with customers even late in the evening. Orders are made via tablet and food was very promptly serve within 5mins after ordering.

1. Roasted Treasures Noodle ($9.80) - a choice between mee pok or mee Kia topped with caramelized char siew and roasted sio bak. The char siew literally melted in my mouth and it was awesome. Similarly, for a non sio bak eater, I must admit that the sio bak was equally good, very even distribution of meat and fats. The mee pok was cooked to the right texture with bak chor and onsen egg. 2 thumbs up! Rating: 4.2/5

3. Sweet and sour fish ($12) - generous portion of crispy fish fillet fried in sweet and sour sauce. Like any tze char dish and would go well with a bowl of white rice. Rating: 3.9/5

Bebek Goreng Pak Ndut serves authentic Indonesian food with the freshest ingredients directly imported from Indonesia. Bebek Goreng is so popular for their crispy fried duck, which has been marinated for 24hrs and the taste is awesomely delicious.
Original crispy fried duck with rice - Bebek Goreng Pak Ndut

Their very first outlet was at Lucky Plaza and drawing huge crowds. They recently opened their 2nd outlet at Westgate B1, taking over the previous Hot Tomato. All orders are self service with payment to be made upfront before food is served. We ordered 3 of their recommended dishes.

1. Original crispy fried duck with rice ($9.90) - flavourful marinated duck leg fried crispily to the right texture, topped with crumbs accompanied with rice and some sides like cabbage and tempeh. The crispy duck deserves the 2 thumbs up as it was indeed flavourful, especially with their homemade spicy chilli. Rating: 4.2/5

2. Grilled chicken with rice ($7.90) - the chicken was slightly drier but nevertheless still tender. I love the tempeh with dark sauce and goes so well with their special black chilli. Sedap! Rating: 4/5

3. Gado gado ($6.90) - Indonesian mixed vegetables with satay sauce. The keropok wasn't as flavourful but the satay sauce was just right with the generous portion. We love it and it's a must try side dish to go with the rice. Rating: 4.2/5

About 15mins walk from Lavender MRT exit B, The Refinery is a modern 3 story restaurant cum cafe cum pub that serves modern Fusion Japanese Western cuisine depending on the time of the day. There are 3 different time menus, brunch/lunch/dinner.

On a cool Fri evening today, we made a reservation via Chope for 2. The restaurant was decorated with modern wooden furniture and I love the black sliding door with the empty oil barrels as decoration outside. At 630pm, there were already quite a no of people chilling out and eating dinner. Signature bowls are highly recommended during dinner time with many of their popular sides. We opted for the following:

1. Refinery Gyudon ($14) - truffle hon shimeiji mushrooms, tare marinated beef, garlic chips, takwan and Onsen egg. Awesome combination and highly recommended for truffle lovers. The bowl was generously topped with ingredients as well. Super yummy! Rating: 4.3/5

ICG Chicken & Burger is selling Korean fried chicken and had its first stall established at Balestier Food Center. It is now opened in West Mall, right at the entrance of the mall. There aren't many seating space available as most people usually do takeaways.

Specializing in Korean fried chicken, there is a wide variety of different flavoured fried chicken to choose from.  From the original crispy fried to the saucy sour cream chicken. There are 3 sizes available for the chicken tenders: small, medium and large. Small consists of 6 tenders to the large size of 16 tenders.
Sour Cream Chicken - ICG Chicken & Burger

We opted to try their highly recommended sour cream or rather creamy onion tenders at $7.90 for small. The chicken batter is lightly fried and it does not give a heavy oil taste. Topped with onions and homemade sour cream, these chicken tenders are addictive! We love them. Besides these lovely chicken, there are burgers and other small sides.

We will definitely be back to try the other flavours and items, thus do stay tuned for more of our reviews.

We did a review 3 years ago in 2017 on the cafe when they first opened. See review below. https://paulinmunchies.blogspot.com/2017/07/cafe-mama-by-mof-clementi-mall.html?m=1

Rating wasn't fantastic as there was much to be improved. 3 years later and we were glad that we are back to give this cafe a 2nd try. All areas have improved tremendously, be it in terms of menu choices or food standard.
Cafe Mama by M.O.F at Clementi Mall - Paulin's Munchies

We ordered their slightly newer menu, 6pcs wing with cheese dip @ $16.80. You can choose either original/soy/spicy. We remembered that the chicken used to be hard but it was now very tender and succulent. The wings come with fried tteokpokki, onion rings, fries. We love it with the hot cheese dip. Would be better if the chicken is dipped with more soy and spicy sauce. Rating: 3.8/5.

Besides this, we ordered their previous Tuna gimbap @ $8.90. The gimbap is nicely rolled with refreshing tuna and vegetables. Loving it as compared to the hard rice roll 3 years ago. Rating: 3.8/5

Food was served much faster and in an orderly manner. Cafe Mama will be introducing even more new menu in the upcoming months and we will be back to give these new dishes a try. So do stay tuned!

Go Noodle House, a famous Malaysian noodle chain restaurant has opened its first outlet in Singapore at the basement of Somerset 313.

The soup is made of fish stock with more than 40 types of fish bones, giving the soup base an awesome sweetness accompanying with the bursting juiciness of the meatballs. We were there earlier today to avoid the dinner crowd. The restaurant was decorated like a old kungfu inn with many old wine bottles used as wall decoration.

We ordered 2 of their main signature dishes and 2 sides.

1. Signature bursting meatball ($10.90) - the bursting meatballs are made of pork with minced meat inside, resembling very much like Fuzhou yuyuan. Super duper yummy and with the awesome fish soup and huatiao wine poured in, a very delicious soup. Rating: 4.2/5

2. Special dark sauce thick noodle with onsen egg ($8.90) - comes in spicy and non spicy version. The basic comes with a generous portion of spinach, ikan bilis, black fungus, fried shallots and onsen eggs. You can opt for additional ingredient like fishball etc etc. We added in their golden pillow at $2.50 which is their homemade tau kua. You can choose between thick or thin noodles. We opted for their standard ban mee. The texture was great but the dark sauce lacks saltiness. Rating: 3.8/5

As the restaurant name mentions, this Crystal Jade outlet focuses mainly on Chinese la mian and xiao long bao dishes with many items similar to Din Tai Fung and Paradise Dynasty. We were at their Takashimaya branch for New Year Eve dinner. The restaurant isn't big, only housing at most 40 to 50 customers. Ordering is done manually on the order paper.

We ordered 2 appetizers and 4 mains.

1. Jellyfish with vinegar chilli ($9.80) - springy jellyfish so delicious and appetizing. We love the crunchiness of the jellyfish. Rating: 4.2/5
