Introducing Singapore's first meatless Korean dining, The Boneless Kitchen at Irving has displayed their capable ability of cooking authentic and tasty Korean food without garlic and meat.

Imagine how our usual army stew would taste without spam and hotdogs... The Boneless Kitchen actually demonstrated that vegetarian food can be as tasty as well.

1. Korean army stew ($9.90) - thick and delicious kimchi stew with golden mushroom, cheese, mock spam and hotdogs. On such a cold evening, it deserved the 2 thumbs up in terms of taste and spiciness. Rating: 4.2/5

2. Yachae pancake (9.90) - vegetable pancake instead of the usual seafood pancake. At first we thought it tasted bland but as we chew longer into it, the pancake taste infused fully in our mouths and its as good as any other seafood pancake. Rating: 3.8/5

3. Odeng bokkeum ($8.90) - stir fried mock fish cake with vegetables and sauce. A must try dish second to army stew. Rating: 4/5

4. Rolled omelette with cheese ($6.60) - a little disappointed with it as the egg tasted bland. Rating: 3/5

For vegetarians, The Boneless Kitchen definitely serve as a worthwhile option for all to try. In fact, we would be back to eat their delicious stew again.

Located on the 2nd level of BreadTalk IHQ, Everton Creamery offers a range of deliciously made gelato. Priced at $4.90 per scoop or $8 for double, there are about 14 flavors to choose from.

A recommended will be their yuanyang which is chinese peanut butter with black sesame.

We tried their blueberry cheesecake as well. The gelato is smooth and rich but a tad sweet. Definitely serve as a good dessert after dinner.

Besides Tai Seng, Everton creamery has another outlet at Everton Park.

Mei Heong Yuan Dessert originated from Farmer's Brand groundnuts. Currently this dessert chain is taken care of by 2 daughters of the original Mei Heong Yuan founder. With their first stall at Chinatown, it has built a reputation for its popular and delicious hot desserts like peanut and sesame paste. They are so rich and smooth!

We were at their Clementi Mall branch after dinner. Located just beside the NTUC foodfare foodcourt, Mei Heong Yuan offers cold desserts like Taiwanese snow ice and savoury snacks like pumpkin/carrot cake etc.

We decided to go for their peanut tang yuan in ginger soup. For $3, it offers 4 tang yuan in clear ginger soup.

I would feel that the tang yuan was really ordinary, like the ready made kind and a little overcook as it was rather soft. However, the ginger soup base was awesome. Hot and spicy and you could feel your throat burning a little. Recommended for those who really love ginger.

Affordable donburis & makis can be found at Donya Japanese Cuisine. With their first shop at Toa Payoh Lorong 1, they have attracted quite a no. of good reviews on the dons and makis.

They opened their 2nd branch at Bugis 269, a coffeeshop behind Bugis Plus. Business seems quieter here as compared to the one in Toa Payoh.

We went for their recommended dons and maki as follow:

1. Chicken katsu don ($5.80) - though the bowl look small, it was filled with fragrant japanese short rice topped with juicy katsu and eggs and onions. It would be better if there was more gravy with the rice. A little dry towards the end when the top portion of the don was eaten. Rating: 3.8/5

2. Chicken mentai katsu don ($6.80) - the katsu was much drier as compared to the above but would give thumbs up for their mentaiko mayo. Tasted very good and not salty. Rating: 3.6/5

3. Mentai maki ($5.80) - we love this dish best. Fresh salmon slices on top of rice roll wrapped with cucumber. The mentaiko mayo was nicely flamed as well. Rating: 4/5

For its price, its really pocket friendly and affordable to many. Its definitely one of the choices to eat when we are nearby Bugis Plus the next time.

Kazo took Singapore by storm earlier this year in January. With their outlet opened at Chinatown Point, many cream puff lovers flocked there to try their light and fluffy puffs.

We ordered their 2 most popular puffs: Polo with hokkaido cream ($3) and kazu kazu ($3.50).

There are 3 creams to choose from: hokkaido cream, chocolate and matcha. We both opted for their most popular hokkaido cream. Both the polo and kazu were very light in their pastry. So porous and fluffy unlike those from Bread Papa. The cream was also much lighter and refreshing. Not too sweet.  The kazu has the crunch which added to the extra texture.

For puff lovers, we definitely recommend to try Kazo. Its all worth the calories they have.

Opus Bar & Grill is located beside Hilton's D9 bakery at the hotel's lobby. So popular with its prime steak cuts, the meats are grilled and roasted over white hot coals with uniquely caramalized and smokey flavor.

We were here for Mother's Day celebration. Staff were very friendly and they allowed us to enter early at 615pm despite opening only at 630pm.

I would recommend to go for their chef recommendation set at $58++ for 2 course and $78++ for 3 course. Mum had hokkaido scallops as starter, 180g of tenderloin beef and honey grilled pineapple with ice cream and apple crumble.

The medium well done tenderloin was very well done to the right texture. The dessert was finger-lickin' good!

For those who don't prefer steak, I would recommend to go for their sakura roasted chicken. The portion is good enough to be shared for 2. Sides like mushrooms and truffle fries can be ordered. We love their freshly made onion cheese bread with butter. So soft and delicious.

The wagyu beef and lobster platter is recommended for pure beef lovers. The wagyu beef is very strong in taste and I personally don't prefer it.

Opus is certainly highly recommended for their grills and we love to visit it again.

Soi Thai Soi Nice is the latest Thai restaurant by SIMYEE Holdings. Headed by Chef Worawong from Bangkok with 19 years of experience, their signature Royal Thai Hotpot is a very popular dish with customers. It is filled with seafood ingredients in authentic Thai tom yum broth.

Besides hotpot, Soi Thai Soi Nice offers a wide variety of other Thai dishes. The staff at the restaurant were friendly and food was promptly served after ordering.

We decided to go for their main dishes first instead of their recommended hotpot. Here's what we had:

1. Sliced fish tom yum soup ($9.80) - generous portion of sliced fish with different variety of mushrooms served in hotpot. Would consider this as one of the better tom yum soup that we have ever tried. The spicy and sour taste was just right. Thumbs up! Rating: 4.2/5

2. Fried garlic chicken thigh ($9.80) - pcs of fried marinated chicken with special thai chilli sauce. The chicken tasted good even without the sauce. The only negative point is that it is bony with little meat. Rating: 3.8/5

3. Fried kangkong ($8.80) - this thai style stir fried kangkong is good for those who do not like chilli. Very fragrantly fried with slices of garlic. Rating: 4/5

4. Seafood phad thai ($9.80) - portion wasn't big but it was full of fresh seafood ingredients like sotong, fish and prawn. The phad thai was a tad soggy in terms of texture but authencity is there in terms of flavor. Rating: 3.9/5

Besides Selatar Mall, Soi Thai Soi Nice has another branch at Alexandra Mall opposite Anchorpoint and opening another one soon at JEM. Looking forward to it as we will be back to try their all popular hotpot. So stay tuned for our next review.

Porn's Thai food has been around for a long while. Established in 2010 by Pornsak, it has recently been taken over by Jus Delish Group managing some other restaurant like Gin Khao and Som Tam.

The restaurant staff were friendly and gives a very homely feel. We were at their Star Vista branch and through Eatigo, there was 30% off all ala carte menu. We ordered all of their recommended dishes and they include:

1. Pineapple fried rice ($11.90) - tasted a little more like egg fried rice. Not bad and hasn't got the authentic pineapple rice taste. Rating: 3.2/5

2. Holy basil omelette ($8.90) - crispy fried omelette with basil leaves and chilli flakes. Has the crispiness on the sides but lack the fluffiness. Rating: 3.2/5

3. Green curry chicken ($10.90) - thin slices of chicken cooked in green curry sauce. The flavour was tad diluted and would be better if the gravy is richer and more flavorful. Rating: 3/5

4. Mango salad ($7.90) - appetizing salad to kick start the meal. Mango was a little raw and hard. Rating: 3/5

Porn's Thai food has probably lost its true blue Thai authencity but infused with local tze char taste instead. Would recommend others like Gin Khao for more flavorful and authentic Thai dishes.

Owned by Great-Eater Restaurant Pte Ltd, Big Eater Seafood Place is not new to the tze char lovers in the West. Located at Jurong West St 91 which is a 10mins walk from Pioneer MRT station, Big Eater is so popular with its seafood dishes.

The crab dishes are a must order among the crowd. At 6pm, the place was already filled with customers and most of them have crabs on their tables, with their salted egg crab being the most recommended.

Being non crab lovers, we went for their ordinary tze char dishes instead. Priced all below $10 for small size dishes, its definitely value for money for the portion. We had the below dishes:

1. King of pork ribs ($9) - 6 to 7pc of juicy and tender pork slices cooked in home made sweet and sour sauce. The sauce isn't too sweet and overpowering and tasted delicious. Rating: 4/5

2. Sotong fritters ($8) - Tasted rather bready and wasn't to our expectations. Was hoping for something more sotongy and tasty. Rating: 3/5

3. Sambal kangkong ($7) - love this dish the best! Kangkong fried in their sinfully good sambal chilli. Thumbs up for this! Rating: 4/5

4. Hotplate tofu ($9) - egg tofu on sizzling hotplate. The plate was a little too hot that the egg layer got burnt. Tasted a little flat and not much ingredients as compared to the usual hotplate tofu. Rating: 3/5

Maybe Big Eater is better for their main seafood dishes like crabs and prawns. Service is definitely prompt despite and crowd. We would back again to try their other dishes like crabs and hokkien noodles.

This is a new restaurant that has taken over the previous Orange Lantern located on the 2nd floor of ARC. It is a HK style food restaurant concept very similar to Xin Wang but offers much lesser variety and more staple noodles and rice dishes.

Ordering is self service and is to be done at the cashier with payment done upfront. No GST and service charge at the current moment.

We tried 5 dishes in all for lunch this afternoon. It includes:

1. Chicken siew mai ($2.50) - rather disappointing dish as it is so mushy in the center and tasted weird. Rating: 2/5

2. Fan Choy ($2.50) - at 2.50, its rather pricey but the fan choy is made by the restaurant with fresh char siew on top of the rice. Rating: 3.8/5

4. Dry gong bao chicken noodle ($8.90) - simply love the springiness and texture of the noodles. Tasted a little salty but overall still considered as a recommended dish to order. Rating: 3.8/5

5. Dry sesame chicken noodle ($8.90) - tasted very much like the gong bao chickrn but much less spicy. Rating: 3.8/5
