Benny Se Teo, the founder of Eighteen Chefs, was an ex-drug addict that has turned over a new leaf with God's grace and guidance. He currently owns more than 15 outlets all over Singapore and has more than 300 employees under him with 150 belonging to ex-convicts.
His story was amazing and he has been invited to several churches for his testimony.
We are here at his Cathay Cineleisure outlet located on the 4th floor. The crowd was not great and mainly are students and teenagers. Food has to be ordered at the counter. We ordered 2 of their signature mains and 1 recommended sides.
1. Bbq chicken ($11.80) - tenderly grilled bbq chicken with 2 sides. I opted for their butter corn and garden salad. The chicken chop was nicely done and drizzled generously with bbq sauce. Rating: 3.5/5
2. Sambal cheese fries ($6.20) - medium cut fries topped with cheese, mayo and housemade sambal. A little spicy but overall combi still quite good. Would be better if the fries are more crispily fried. Rating: 3.5/5
3. Japanese curry beef rice ($14.80) - beef steak in japanese curry and rice. The steak was a little tough at medium well. Curry sauce a little watered down as well. Rating: 3/5
10% discounts are given for senior citizen, students and Safra card owners. Friendly restaurant manager going around asking for feedback. For economical western food lovers, Eighteen Chefs definitely could be considered.
A summary of what we had:
