Located at the corner on the 3rd floor of Far East Plaza, Kra Pow used to be a very small shop with just less than 10 seaters. But today it has taken over a clothing shop opposite it with the expansion of its business. Though not very much bigger, the stall can now take up to 25 people.
Ordering has to be self service at the counter and only payable with cash or nets. Focusing mainly on one dish meals, there aren't many side dishes to choose from. We were there for our family dinner today.
We had the following:
1. Basil pork rice with egg, Krapow pork ($7.90) - fried minced pork with basil leaves and chilli padi. This dish is definitely not for non spicy lovers. Its very hot and also very fragrantly done. The overall combination with rice is excellent. Rating: 4/5
2. Thai beef fried rice ($8.90) - this is a non spicy dish. Fried with garlic, beef slices and chopped kailan, this rice dish is good for kids. The shrimp paste used to fry the rice added the extra fragrant. Rating: 4/5
3. Pad thai ($9.90) - a little too sweet and wet for my liking. I prefer the drier version. The seafood ingredients were very fresh though. Rating: 3.5/5
4. Clear tom yum soup ($7.90) - clear seafood tom yum soup not recommended for non spicy lovers. Rating: 3.5/5
5. Crispy chicken wings ($7.90) - skinny chicken wings crispily fried with thai chilli sauce. There is not much meat on the wings. We prefer the juicy big ones. Rating: 3.5/5
The rice dishes are highly recommended here but portion is rather small. For big eaters, they probably have to order 2 main dishes. A stall good for couples but not big families as its rather small.
