With the renaming of Chao Phraya Thai Kitchen comes the opening of The Talad Drink and Thai Kitchen. Besides selling Thai dishes, they offer pretty talad drinks that could be found at Artbox. We didn't try the drinks as we were there for their dishes. Only 3 pages of menu to choose from, all the usual and common thai dishes could be found.
The servers are mainly Thais and speak rather fluent English. Chefs are authentic Thais as well. The interior of this small shop is very similar with that of Chao Phraya and plates used were identical.
Food prices range from $4 to $26 depending on what was ordered. Here's what we had:
1. Pineapple fried rice ($5.50) - fragrantly fried pineapple rice with fresh cubes of pineapple chunks. There aren't many ingredients in it except for 2 prawns and some raisins. Portion is enough for 2 to share. Rating: 3.5/5
2. Kangkong with chilli and garlic ($5) - we simply love the way the dish was fried. It wasn't too spicy like in some other thai restaurants. With enough oil and seasoning, this dish is a must order. Rating: 4.5/5
3. Omelette with onion ($4) - fluffy fried omelette with onions. It wasn't as awesome as the one offered at Ah Loy Thai but could still tasted good with rice. Rating: 3.8/5
4. Green curry chicken ($6) - another delicious must try dish. Generous chicken pcs with string beans in green curry gravy. The gravy was slightly more watery but tasted still rich and delicious. Rating: 4.2/5
We personally felt that the dishes tasted better than those we had when the shop was named under Chao Phraya. We would be back to try their Talad drinks.
