Bao Today at Somerset 313

Bao Today is an outdoor dim sum restaurant at Somerset 313. The place is well ventilated with many ceiling fans. We were the only customers at the restaurant at 630pm. 

On the other hand, the rest of the western restaurants beside it were packed with customers, especially young adults. Nevertheless this did not deter us from trying out Bao Today.

We are to write on the menu list and pay at the cashier before food is served. Below is what we ordered:

1. Bao today ding ding noodles - this is dry hk style nissin noodle with fried luncheon meat, vegetable and braised hard boil egg. The noodle was q enough with the right texture and tossed evenly in braised sauce. Tasted better than the noodles in some other Hk style restaurant.

2. Braised chicken feet - so soft and tender. Awesome!

3. Fried spring roll - succulent spring roll filled with turnip, fungus and mushrooms. Fried crispily and so tasty. 

4. Poached vegetables - poached kailan with oyster sauce. We expected portion was small for its price at $4.90 but was surprised at the generosity. Vegetable so soft even the stem. A good portion of vitamins. 

5. Crystal dumpling - 水晶包 in Chinese. Steam dumpling full of turnips as well. Not as good as the Tiong Bahru market ones but still very much acceptable. 

6. Black sesame chicken bun - this would be the most plain dish of all. Expected the skin to be full of black sesame taste but could only taste the flour. The chicken filling was disappointing as well.

Overall, Bao Today is an average dim sum restaurant to try for friends. May be a little hot during the day but definitely cooling at night.
