Xin Wang's cafe concept: combining the street's favourite of HK, Macau, Shanghai and Singapore. They have recently launched a new menu, which added more dim sum, local tze char dishes and many others.
We decided to try some of their new menu dishes at JEM. Here's what we have ordered:
1. Baked char siew bo lo bun - this dim sum dish comes in 2pcs. Looks small and cute but was a little disappointed in taste. Expected to be more buttery but the crust was plain. The filling was good on the other hand. Rating: 3.5/5
2. Lychee sweet and sour pork - thumbs up for this dish. Tasted better than some other tze char stalls. The portion was generous and the pork cubes were succulent. The lychee added extra tanginess to the dish. Rating: 4/5
3. Minced kailan with silver fish - another good dish to share. The vegetables are fragrantly fried and topped with fresh crispy silver fish. Rating: 3.8/5
4. XW special stir fried beehoon - ordinary tasting beehoon stirfried with some onions, eggs, char siew bits and vegetables. The beehoon taste was quite strong. Rating: 3/5
5. Mini spring rolls - crispily fried 8 mini spring rolls with thai chilli sauce. A good simple appetizer. Rating: 3.8/5
The tze char new menu is definitely worth the try. They have definitely improved from before. Another family or frenz friendly cafe.
