Thonglor Thai Cuisine is a casual dining restaurant serving Authentic Thai dishes and Mookata (Thai Style Steamboat & BBQ) at affordable prices. The restaurant is located at Djitsun Mall Ang Mo Kio which is about 10mins walk from Ang Mo Kio MRT.
The restaurant is modernly decorated but still retaining its rich Thai flavour. There are lots of Thai King pictures and statues in the restaurant.
The restaurant was very crowded at 6:30pm and fortunately we made a reservation via their website. The servers are all Thai ladies. The dishes ordered were as follow:
1. Stir fried kailan with roasted pork - didn't expect this dish to be so spicy. It is fried with chilli padi. We could feel our stomach burning with each swallow. Definitely recommended for those we love spicy thai dishes. The roasted pork added additional flavor to the vegetables but would be better if it is crispier. Rating: 3.8/5
2. Thai "chai po" omelette - we were quite disappointed with this dish. The omelette wasn't fluffy and tasted so much like chinese omelette. Rating: 3/5
3. Stir fried chicken with cashew nuts - fried chicken pcs stir fried in saucy sweet sauce with cashew nuts and onion slices. Quite a good dish to try with white rice. Rating: 3.5/5
4. Sweet and sour fish slices - fish slices were fresh but very disappointed with the sauce. It tasted like pure tomato sauce. No distinct sweet and sour flavor. Rating: 3/5
It seems that Thonglor dishes has incorporated local Chinese taste into their cuisine. We still very much prefer the authentic thai taste served at others. But in terms of food readiness, would give it thumbs up! Food was served with 5mins upon ordering.
