Nothing beats a bowl of piping hot soup on a cold rainy evening. We were on bus no 166 on the way home but detoured to have our dinner at the all famous Holland Village XO Fish Head Bee Hoon at Dover before going home. They used to be at the old Holland Village market but seemed to have moved.
Being a tze char stall, we were surprised that there was no menu at all. All on the boards are the items offerable. There were about 10 items in all, being the most and commonly ordered XO fish head beehoon and san lao horfun. Here's what we had:
1. XO fish meat beehoon - the soup stilk tasted as good. It was not very rich but flavourful enough for us to fall in love with it. You can taste the XO and fish meat were fresh. Rating: 4.2/5
2. San lao horfun - portion was small for $6. But it was full of beansprouts and cooked much drier. Not as wet as some other tze char stalls will offer. Rating: 3.8/5
3. Prawn roll - what a homecook dish. The roll was soft and not as meaty as some other places. We love the homecook taste and feels so much like my grandma dish. Rating: 4.2/5
4. Fried nai bai - another homecook dish taste that is worth to order. Fried fragrantly with garlic but not overly tasty and rich. Rating: 4/5
The service was prompt and food were served within 10 mins upon ordering. A recommended tze char stall for family.
