Yuba Hut at Northpoint City Shopping Center

Yuba Hut serves modern Japanese cuisine like aburi salmon dons and makis at affordable prices. With their first 2 branches at Heartland Mall and Hillion Mall respectively, Yuba Hut has successfully opened their 3rd outlet at the new wing of Northpoint City in Yishun.

We were there with our lovely bunch of buddies for dinner and was blessed to enjoy their champion floss maki at 50% off for any main don ordered. We were spoilt with choices of makis and dons but have decided to go for the following:

1. Teriyaki chicken don ($9.90) - lovely grilled teriyaki chicken drizzled with sauce and accompanied with an onsen egg. Simply heavenly. Rating: 4/5

2. Beef steak don ($16.90) - the beef fillet was tenderly flamed and very well marinated with sauce. Another heavenly don. Rating: 4/5

3. Aburi salmon don ($16.90) - supposedly to be one of their signature dons but do not seem to taste as nice as the meat dons. Rating: 3.8/5

4. Sashimi don ($16.90) - chirasi don with loads of tuna and salmon sashimi dices. The fishes tasted a little fishy but do not taste as fresh as the ones from Sushiro. Rating: 3.5/5

5. Chicken hotpot with pork base ($15.90) - generous portion of chicken, mushroom, fishcake and vegetables in hotpot. A nice tasty hotpot especially on a cold day. Rating: 4/5

6. Champion maki floss ($8.95) - indeed their champion floss. 8pcs of maki topped with their special sauce, floss and roe. Awesome! Rating: 4.2/5

7. Mentaiko cream cheese maki ($16.90) - tasted a little disappointing as we expected loads of mentaiko. The cream cheese covered the taste of the mentaiko. Rating: 3.8/5

8. Chicken karaage ($5.90) - 5pcs of crispily fried chicken that goes surprisingly well with the cream cheese sauce. Rating: 3.8/5

9. And lastly, Grilled unagi with egg don.

At Yuba Hut, would strongly recommend their meat dons and champion maki floss. Not only good tasting but portion is generous as well. Would definitely be one of the places to consider for dons and makis.
