Canton Paradise has successfully opened its latest outlet at JEM basement together LENU. Located at previous Imperial Treasure Restaurant, its strategic location has attracted many customers.
We were all excited to give this new outlet a try today but we disappointed by their slow service. We waited 10mins in queue although there were seats in the restaurant and servers moving around.
There was a slight commotion at the cashier due to some wrong payment but this should not disrupt the rest of the service. No servers came to entertain the guests waiting for their seats and we could see some impatient guests moving off.
Finally after 10mins wait, we were shown to our table which was left unclean. The process and cleanliness was off despite being a known franchise.
Ordering was self serve using the paper menu and we had 6 dishes in all.
1. Vegetarian springroll ($4.90) - 3 crispily fried homemade springroll which was missing the vinegar as a dipping sauce unlike the ones served at Crystal Jade. Rating: 3.2/5
2. Piggy custard bun ($6.20) - this cute piggy custard buns have molten custard filling oozing out from the nose and back. Tasted as good as it looks. Rating: 4/5
3. Wanton in chilli oil ($6.20) - this super appetizing wantons filled with sour and spicy vinegarette. The self made wantons are juicy and meaty. Love this dish. Rating: 4.2/5
4. Chee cheong fun with fried mushroom ($6.20) - this newly created chee cheong fun dish is filled with fried mushrooms. Crunchy with soft chee cheong fun skin tasted so good. Rating: 4/5
5. Spinach with garlic ($11.90) - fragrantly fried minced garlic with spinach. Vegetables are well fried to the right texture. Rating: 4/5
6. XO fried carrot cake ($8.80) - each carrot cake pcs are deep fried and fried with XO sauce, egg, beansprouts and spring onion. A little too dry and no XO taste. Rating: 3.5/5
Overall, we are still satisfied with the food despite the slow service which needs improvement. But we should be back to try the rest of their dishes.
