Nothing beats a hot piping stew on cold rainy evening. It is Eat with your Family Day today and we were entitled for early dismissal this evening from office. Having to leave office early, we decided to queue for Seoul Yummy at JEM.
The restaurant queue was perpetually long, regardless of the time. We were there at 615pm and there was already a long queue. Fortunately we didn't have to wait very long for our turn.
We ordered their combo set at $48.90++. Each combo set comes with 1 main stew, 1 side dish and dessert. We had the following combo:
1. Andong Jjimdak - Andong-jjimdak is a variety of jjim, which originated in the city of Andong, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province and is made with chicken, various vegetables marinated in a ganjang based sauce. The name literally means "steamed chicken of Andong". The jjimdak gravy at Seoul Yummy is more watery as compared to Andong Zzimdak at Cityhall. The chicken pcs are slightly tougher and not as tasty and fulfulling. Prefered the dish at Zzimdak. The only plus point was this dish comes with generous portion of octopus. Rating: 3.2/5
2. Kimchi pancake - thinly fried pancake made of kimchi and onions. Tasted rather salty with the sauce. Was rather disappointing. Rating: 3/2
3. Sweet Hulk - korean bingsu with redbean and green tea ice cream. The dessert was the most fulfilling dish of all. The red bean paste wasn't too sweet and makes a great combination with the green tea ice cream. The shaved ice was a little course though. Rating: 3.8/5
Probably we should have gone for their army stew again or other ala carte dishes. Will give this restaurant another go for their other dishes at their other branches whereby the queue isn't so long.
