Burg Kitchen is the latest Japanese restaurant addition to the Eat At Seven enclave at Suntec City Mall and is owned by chef Yasuhiro Kataoka, who has more than 30 years of culinary experience.
Each hamburg comprises a 200g patty, a blend of minced beef with wagyu fat, and is pan-fried and slow-cooked in the oven to contain its juices. The hamburg is marinated with salt, pepper, breadcrumbs, milk, miso and sauteed onions.
Besides hamburg sets, the restaurant also serve other chicken sets. All sets come with free flow of salad and sides. The restaurant is decorated with wooden furnishing and there are about 20 to 25 seaters. The place looked a little chaotic when we arrived.
The restaurant looks a little shorthanded. Ordering took about 5mins and there were no bowls available for the sides and salad. There aren't many choices and most of the trays were empty. The topped up was done much later. The sides and salad didn't tasted too good.
As for main dishes, we ordered the following:
1. Original burg set ($18) - hamburg served on hotplate with side pasta. We can choose our own sauce, ranging from teriyaki mayo, demi glaze to yuzu sauce. The hamburg was overcooked and very tough. Each set comes with rice and miso soup. Rather disappointed and was nothing close to the menu description. Rating: 3/5

2. Cheese burg set ($19.80) - original hamburg topped with colby and cheddar cheese. The hamburg was slightly more tender as compared to the original. Rating: 3.2/5

3. Chicken combo set ($16.50) - whole chicken leg with crispy chicken wings and tsukune meatballs. The chicken leg was tenderly grilled but the wings are rather hard. Rating: 3/5

All sets are subjected to gst and service charge but with J passport, one can get 20% discount. The food serving time was long and many customers showed their impatience. Hopefully along the way, food serving time and quality can be improved.
