With the closing of many of their branches, Sakae Sushi has made many changes to their menu and introduced many different new creations. Most of their branches has teppanyaki menu included and customers are seriously spoilt for choices.
It has been a long while since we had Sakae and we were back at their Lot One branch this evening. We were so glad that some of our favourite $1.90 dishes are back by popular demand. These includes gyoza, fried tofu and yasai kakiage. Others include the extremely delicious salmon mentai inari at $6.90.
Flipping through their new dishes, we ordered the following:
1. Otah fried soba ($10.90) - portion is small but very fragrantly fried with japanese sauce and seafood. The soba is topped with thick otah. Absolutely delicious! Rating: 4/5
2. Caesar salad ($9.90) - very small portion of salad topped with egg pcs and smoked salmon pcs. Instead of croutons, it is topped with cornflakes. Rating: 3/5
3. Chicken karaage ($7.90) - 6 succulent pcs of fried chicken accompanied with mayo. Vsry tender and delicious and definitely a great dish to try. Rating: 4/5
Overall, we felt that Sakae Sushi food quality has improved but portion seems to have become smaller. We should be back to try the other dishes.
