Founded with the vision of providing authentic Korean food to both the locals and the Korean community in Singapore, Ju Shin Jung Group of Restaurants opened their first restaurant in West Coast in 2003. After which, through customer's spread of word, the restaurant good food and service enabled them to open their 2nd branch at East Coast.
We were there at their West Coast branch for their set lunch specials to fight away the Monday blues this afternoon. Set lunches are priced at $12.90/$14.90/$18.90 depending on what has been ordered. We were given a wide range of Korean sides, from marinated spinach, anchovies, bean sprouts, kimchi etc. All sides are refillable and all tasted so good. Just by eating the sides can be rather full. We ordered 6 set lunches in all:
1. Fried Saba fish - crisply fried fresh saba fish served on top of shredded cabbage. The fish is very fresh indeed with no fishy smell. But wouldn't rate it too special. Rating: 3.9/5
2. Spicy beef soup - soft beef meat that melts into your mouth. The ingredients are so generous and could easily be shared among 2 persons. The soup was awesome! Rating: 4.3/5
3. Spicy chicken soup - very similar to the beef soup but its chicken version. So tender as well and full of ingredients. Love the soup taste. Rating: 4.3/5
4. Spicy sotong hotplate - tenderly panfried spicy sotong on hotplate. The sotong was chewy yet tender. The gravy of the sotong was excellent as well. Rating: 4.3/5
5. Spicy pork hotplate - another generous tenderly fried pork slices on hotplate. Another awesome dish to order. Rating: 4.3/5
6. Beef hotplate - tender non spicy beef slices on hotplate with lots of spring onions. A very good dish for non spicy lovers. Rating: 4.3/5
Basically we were very pleased with all the dishes and it's highly recommended for Korean food lovers. We definitely would be back to try the rest of the dishes and their BBQ buffet. 珞
