Recently, we have created a food gastronomic trail to explore some of the recommended food around Singapore and we were at our 1st stop at Sikdang Tanjong Pagar for delicious and recommended dalbakgi.
Located nearer to Duxton Road, Sikdang is a rather new Korean restaurant offering economical Korean food. Reservation can be easily done via Chope.
The restaurant is rather small with only less than 15 tables. With the 5 of us, we ordered 4 of their highly recommended dishes:
The restaurant is rather small with only less than 15 tables. With the 5 of us, we ordered 4 of their highly recommended dishes:
1. Seafood pancake ($18) - huge seafood pancake that was fried with thin batter. We liked it coz it wasn't too thick with batter and the onion vinegar sauce was delicious. Rating: 3.6/5
2. Korean fried chicken ($18) - expected huge portion for the price but it came in a small bowl with popcorn chicken style. The chicken pcs were a bit too floury . Fails in comparison to other Korean chicken. Rating: 2.9/5
3. Kim chi tofu soup ($28) - huge army stew like pot with lots of tofu, leek, kimchi, meat and dumplings. A very nice delicious stew for sharing among 2. Rating: 3.8/5
4. Dalbakgi ($48) - we had high hopes on this dish but felt rather disappointed when it came. The dish was a little sweet and was rather tired of eating it after a while. Too rich and starchy and would better if the dish was fried on our own with a little burnt taste. Yoogane tasted much better. Rating: 3/5
Portion here is great for sharing but not much to our likings. At least we tried and now we know!
A summary of what we had:
Seafood pancake
Korean fried chicken

My overall ratings:
